Band is the best way to shape a student as he/she grows physically, mentally, and intellectually. Many including myself owe their success in many careers to the lessons and virtues learned in band such as team work, responsibility, dedication, persistence and hard work.

I wouldnt be where I am today as an academic and as a musician without being introduced to the marching arts, and that all starts with band camp.

I do not go to this school but band camp changed my life. It boosted my self confidence. I made a hundred new friends. Band camp changes life. Good luck from Seymour, Tennessee!

A Marching Band should be able to bond and learn during Band camp. I cannot imagine what my band would have been like without it.

Perhaps this brings to light a larger issue that is within the district. If the budget is so tight that they have to cut something with such minimal cost....obviously the money isn't being handled properly in the first place.

Someone should set up an online site to fundraise to keep this tradition alive.

Band camp was essential in building section cohesion and a solid unit-let them fundraise and do whatever they need to, but don't let this tradition die!

You can't end traditions that high schoolers hold dear. It's not right.

The Fine Arts department in most school is usually the first to be cut when it comes to budget issues. I find this extremely wrong, seeing that the popular sports teams typically get most of the money at school and more than what they necessarily need. This band should, at any cost, be able to go to their band camp; they've been attending the camp for decades and it'd be quite unfortunate and saddening to take that away, especially from seniors.

My niece goes to this school. One of things that she really enjoys is marching band and what comes along with it. Going away to band camp is exciting way for the students bond with each other as well as put 100% in to learning a routine. I would be very sadden to see this opportunity taken away from this students. I hope the school board will reconsider there decision on this matter. Sincerely Deanna Swicionis
