You are right Judy. Only 20% of Sarasota County coastline is accessible to the public. The state average for coastal counties is 40%. We must protect all public beach access in Sarasota, as the choking off of beach access hurts our quality of life and our economy. Thank you for signing the petition!

Please know that the City will say the beach will remain public, and technically they are right. As a practical matter, however, this proposal prices out most City residents of important amenity offerings. The proposal creates a resort style amenity with resort pricing. Such exclusivity is inconsistent with a public pavilion. The increased intensification of use will crowd out access for the public who is there for the beach. In this way, the public would be damaged.

The pavilion change proposed won't include a high rise. The changes do, however, create about three times more food and alcohol service seating, and of course three times the customers means more employees. All that increased intensity will create adverse impacts regarding traffic, parking, noise and light pollution, and more. The adverse impacts of this proposal, the incompatibility with the residential nature of the area, are sufficient legal reasons for the City Commission to deny the major conditional use and site plan changes requested.

We do not want any fancy big highrise to replace our quaint, fun, laid back pavilion. Leave it alone !!!!

There are so few informal and family friendly places left in Sarasota. The requested change would be just one more imposition on families and would negatively affect the quality of life of Lido residents.

This is a huge mistake! Don't turn Lido into Siesta Key! The appeal is the quiet beauty of the key, not the party atmosphere of Siesta Key.

I am not opposed to modernizing the existing area (rest rooms, shops, eating area, playground) and the addition of seats and tikibar. I am opposed to the water park for children in the front (we have a beach right there!) and the cabanas at any price.

Public beach is for residents and guest of Sarasota county.
Traffic has been a nightmare in the last few years and will be increasingly worse with the proposed site. It really won’t bring any benefits for those of us that have a place on the island.
On our he contrary will make it a lot worse to in and out of our own homes !!!
Please consider those of us that have invested huge amounts of money to have a place to enjoy. This will make our lives way more complicated, since there is only one way avenue to get back all the way to the island

Daiquiri Deck is already at the circle. Leave our beaches be! Traffic is already a nightmare. How relaxing! a day at the beach with even more families throwing trash all over being right on top of each other! Not! No thanks . Go away!

The city and county have been destroying public access to the gulf and bay for years... Marina Jack's is no better than mall parking lots only with more stink from diesel. We should also protest to Troy Syprett and Gavin Meshad and suggest that we will not support their current businesses, The Daiquiri Decks & Aloft.

I completely agree. I think you should try approaching this from another angle though. Demand an environmental impact study and how it will affect wildlife, specifically the turtles. Do you really think that tiki bar and restaurant will shut down it's lights and music during turtle season?
