I am a Lido Beach condo owner and have been coming to Lido since before our beautiful Casino was inexplicably torn down. Many persons are very confused about having a new fancy restaurant/bar in place of our little concession that has been there for 50 years. Let’s stop this awful progress that will change Lido Beach forever. We should put this project on hold until we get badly needed sand. Please!

Absolutely not, beach is public land. It always has been and when these people bought or built homes, they did not think they owned beach!!! Let alone get it for free!!!!!

I am an owner resident and taxpayer of Lido Key and I strongly object to putting a restaurant on Lido Key. Please stop this now.

Lido is a place for people to go to enjoy a natural beach in an calm environment. This proposal does not serve the community but rather serves the commission and the "staff" in order to provide more funds (i.e. the money that was appropriated for the bathrooms) to use towards increased salaries and pensions. Why have the commission if this is how they handle their fiscal responsibility to Sarasota's assets? They certainly do not serve the community.

We need to protect the Lido Pavilion and Lido Beach so that all residents and visitors to the Sarasota area have the opportunity to enjoy a day at the public beach where they will be able to afford to buy food and they will be able to park. The fact that the City Commission has even considered letting this deplorable change to the Pavilion happen is outrageous. It is also an indication of the lack of concern that Syprett and Meshad have for the area when they have not studied the impact the their plan will have on traffic or parking.

It would be a terrible decision to tear down Lido pavilion. I work at one of the smaller older hotels on Lido, we refer so many of our guests there who ask where a good local stop is to eat. I hope and pray they keep the pavilion.

Lido Pavillion does need renovating but to better serve families and quiet beach goers - that's how Lido Beach is different from Siesta and Longboat Keys - as a home owner on Lido Key, I am very concerned about the "spill-over" parking and irresponsible guests invading my quiet community. Please do not approve this commercialization of our home.

Privatization of the Pavilion is outrageous and should be blocked. This is against the wishes of the vast majority of Sarasota residents and a boondoggle for wealthy Sarasota business owners who probably have connections to the commissioners who voted for it. The owners have a lease at a bargain basement price. Why not have a referendum about this?

My husband, my daughter & I started coming to Lido Key about 5 years ago. We had explored other parts of Florida but once we found Lido Key we stopped looking. Three years ago we were lucky enough to come into an inheritance and bought a condo here. The feeling of community here even when we were just visitors is very important to us. My daughter has Down Syndrome and is now 21 years old. She is known by all the staff at the Pavilion and we are totally comfortable in allowing her to go to the Pavilion on her own. This greatly improves her independence and confidence on the Key. We are working towards moving here permanently but I am now really concerned that these proposed changes will totally change the wonderful beach community that we discovered and fell in love with. Thank you

It is very concerning that some of the legal recommendations regarding this proposal have been wrong, and some of the case law presented by the applicants attorney was not applicable. The City's legal advice must improve. In addition, these land use changes are completely independent of the lease. Anyone who attempts to frame these changes as a "done deal", or as a requirement of the lease are wrong. Such claims are an attempt to bamboozle the public and cloud the issue.
The City Commission can deny the requested land use changes based on competent and substantial testimony regarding the negative impacts of the proposal. The testimony of citizens is competent and substantial testimony.
Be prepared to testify against this proposal to the City Commission and Planning Commission. We will inform the petition signers of the dates of those meetings.
