I grew up going to this beach, and to see it taken away by removing most of the public parking and access is heartbreaking.

I stand with the community here on Lido to oppose this miss use of a public park and beach, we pay very high taxes and deserve the cities upkeep of our treasured resource!

This is an another example of government taking public property and selling it to private corporations so that the government officials can get financial gain, either in "kick backs" or as a source of salary increases and bonuses. Just another example of government corruption. What other reason would they have to do this. St Armand's Circle has plenty of restaurants and bars. Lido Beach Pavilion is truly a family place and should not be priced out of existence for families

Absolutely opposed to privatization of public areas. So difficult already to park on Lido. Improve it for the public, not for hotels or other businesses!

St Armand’s circle has plenty of bars and restaurants a few blocks away. Lido beach resort has full dining and bar with beautiful views. The pavilion offers beach goers laid back style and their food is wonderful. Please don’t change it

Why would you VOLUNTARILY CHOOSE to destroy such a cool piece of history?! We are systematically destroying our own history bit by bit in the greedy pursuit of money. Thank goodness Europe did not decide to do this with all their beautiful historic places...why are we being so foolish?!

I think you should revamp existing pavilion with some memories of the Casino!! My husband and I miss it terribly and have fond memories! Europe would never have torn down such a beautiful structure!!!

It’s called a major conditional use because it would be a BIG change.
A substantial majority of people who live in the neighborhood strongly feel the proposal is NOT compatible.
Many in Sarasota and surrounding areas and beyond feel the same way.
The overwhelming concern is simply that this doesn’t fit.
There are many different reasons why this isn’t compatible. Focusing just on the music aspect consider the following:
A diverse population visits the public beach.
This proposal not only includes music, but also amplified music.
Who does this music appeal to?
Do you play music that appeals to kids, to retirees, to single partiers?
Is it jazz, country, hip hop? Is it top 40, 50’s show tunes, 90’s grunge, post industrial like Front 242.. is it Disney?…is it Barney?
I suggest Maybe it should just be the sounds of nature and the ocean.
Who is the gatekeeper, and more importantly, how do you ensure that all of the music is appropriate for kids of all ages given that this is a family beach?
I think it is important to note that there are properties along the beach including right next door, which are explicitly prohibited from having any music at all, amplified or not.
The City Commission in that instance “…determined that the nature of the non-residential use proposed by Petitioner, in proximity to residential land uses, had a potential to adversely impact the surrounding property…..”
Could the most appropriate action in this regard, be to maintain the sounds of nature that is, and has been, integral to the Character of Lido for so long.
Regarding the standards of review that are applied (Sarasota Zoning Section IV-506 and IV-906) note Sarasota Zoning Section IV-906 A(2) in its entirety regarding Character, with additional specific attention to subparagraph a. regarding function, subparagraph c. regarding Character, and subparagraph d. regarding adverse impacts on the livability and usability of nearby land due to: among
