Stop selling our public spaces. They belong to the people.

Save the Lido Pavillion, it’s fine just as it is!

The beaches are an area treasure, only available due to the City's perseverance and diligence regarding renourishment projects. And yet a private operator would be benefitting from these efforts. Doesn't seem right.

Stop the creeping privitization of our waterfront! These are short-sighted policies.

Sarasota - city and county - are at the brink. "Overdevelopment" is precisely what we are seeing with projects ranging from the explosion of construction downtown to the super-sized plans Benderson wishes to impose on Stickney Point, to the grandiose plans of Pat Neal and the Turner family east of I-75.

It seems to me the Commissioners are working for the Daiquiri Deck to the detriment of the rights of the people of Sarasota. Why? Weren’t you elected by everybody??

I say no to government use, major conditional use and site plan changes to Lido Beach Pavilion.

I’m all for saving what we have left of our “Old Florida Charm”, Lido is accessible and welcoming to all socioeconomic groups now. If we shift that balance by allowing high end restaurants, shops and added fees for parking and the pool, we are gentrifying the area even more. Pushing out the blue collar, hard working, tax paying majority of our gulfside community. This is up to us, we speak loudly enough and we will be heard.

Keep our public beaches!! Shame on them for thinking only about money and themselves.

I’m tired of money-driven developers over-building our county to cater to the elite. SRQ residents deserve more.

The city of Sarasota has shot itself in the foot so many times tearing down our history that it needs to be stopped. Tearing down the main structures in 1970 was one of the stupidest things ever done here.

Traffic and parking will be a nightmare if this plan is approved. Keep Lido Beach free and accessible to Sarasota citizens and families.

Please stop taking away and changing what’s peaceful fun and beautiful at our local beaches.

Lido Beach should be maintained as a family-friendly beach open to all. Expanding it to the degree proposed is a stain on the beach's history and allure.

I am against the privatization of The Lido Pavilion. It is ultimately to exclusionary. The price of food will be high. Expensive cabanas are elitist. Parking will be less available for beach goers. In the 1950’s, there was an official move to make the beach only available to white people. Black people from Newtown would be banned and segregated to a location 40 miles south. Locals protested this racist proposition. After all, they had payed taxes that floated a bond for beach improvements. Thisrule did not pass. This new proposal by local private business, reminds me of our history. I was born in Sarasota in 1955 and I have many memories of the Lido Beach Pavilion that was demolished.

This lease to a private company is so wrong. Why do the city and county commissioners feel the need to give away our public spaces to the private sectors. Just put on your big boy and girl pants and say "no"...This lease is not in the best interest of our community.. it is in the best interest of The Daiquiri Deck owners.

Lido Pavilion is pure and honest. Refreshingly un pretentious. It has to survive and cannot be consumed by the corporate chains.
