"They" did not study impact, as they only care about the money.

As a board member of the Lido Key resident association, I urge you to oppose this poorly vetted lease to privatize Lido Beach Pavilion.

as a long-time property owner on Lido, I value the right of all Sarasota residents and visitors, regardless of financial ability, to freely enjoy the natural beauty of the beach. Privatising the pavilion infringes on the equal rights of out citizens.

I strongly encourage all commissioners to take actions needed to provide all appropriate evaluation steps with the Lido Pavillion project.

I strongly object to the current plans for leasing out the Lido Pavilion to the applicants Troy Syprett and Gavin Meshad for use as a large restaurant, tiki bar and private cabanas at the pool area. As a resident of Lido Key, I attended the meetings on this subject and I believe the residents spoke as one with a clear voice in expressing their disapproval of this plan. Not all development is progress. If the City Commissioners were listening to the residents of Lido Key, the City Commissioners would not approve the major conditional use and site plan changes requested by the applicant. We don't want Lido Beach Pavilion to become a late night bar and restaurant. At a minimum, the changes proposed to this vital public space should be put before the Parks Advisory Board.

Do NOT support the proposed site plan changes for the Lido Pavilion. Please respect those who live on this key. Consider the impossible car parking situation, and traffic overload this plan is proposing. The key already is tough to get on and off on holidays. Don't turn a natural beautiful beach area into raging spring break scene!

I totally support the Pavilion as a site that is for the public. The inclusion of the Parks Advisory Board in the decision process is necessary. Protect the residents instead of supporting, yet again, development that benefits the owners. Thank you.

This initiative must be stopped. Its true intent seems to be to line the pockets of a select few while degrading quality for all and reducing property values for Lido residents. The entire “process” to date has been a sham with the city’s intent to approve this awful proposal evident quite early on even while they placated the residents of Lido who had assumed that a proper due diligence and objective approval processes would be assured. Wrong! These commissioners and city officials are entrusted to serve the public interest not saloon owners who simply want to make more money at the expense of destroying a lovely slice of old Florida.

It is a huge mistake to turn the pavilion over to a private entity. The city has enough money to do what is needed- renovate the bathrooms (it is a disgrace that it hasn’t been done before), update the gift shop with ice cream etc., fix what needs to be done at the pool. We all love Gabe’s food and the atmosphere is suitable for Lido. The rest -tiki bar, restaurant etc aren’t needed or wanted. Why is Lido treated like the poor stepsister to Siesta?

Our beautiful coastline, our quality beaches and unique neighborhoods are no longer going to be of any interest to anyone if this type of commercialization destroys them. Do our natural amenities not bring in enough revenue for more than our local needs just as they are? Do we who live on St. Armands and Lido Keys want more people spinning through our side streets to avoid the overwhelming mainstream traffic that already exits nearly year-round? Please do not allow the spirit of natural simplicity on and our easy access to public beaches to be shoved aside by a few who are motivated by greed and avarice, and could not care less what they destroy or whom they displace in their pursuit of profit.
