Lewis is an incredible teacher. Everyone I know and talk to about him has so much love and respect for him. He is an integral role in our community and him being fired would truly be devastating. And no one else we hire could possibly treat the subject he teaches with the same amount of knowledge, love, and care that Lewis does. (Also if this is because of the issue of him not handing back work in a timely manner, let me just say that I am in his African American Literature class right now, and I have gotten back every assignment so far.)

I am graduating from college in 29 days. I am IN college because Lewis Goff believed in my academic abilities and recognized me as a person. There are things that we discussed in Lewis's classes, that I continue to discuss in my upper level Bioethics courses-it's astounding. I know there are struggling (in every sense of the word) students that would benefit from his wisdom and compassion. I ask the administration to think deeply about this decision, because it will make a tremendous impact on the PVPA community as a whole.

Lewis is one of the most eye-opening, inspiring, and thoughtful people I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with in my entire life. While at PVPA I was fortunate to take many classes with him including Through White Eyes, African American Lit, The Art of the Essay, Writing From Experience, and ELA 10. Each course, provided me with valuable lessons and skills that I will draw from for the rest of my life. More so than any other teach I’ve ever had, Lewis has changed the way that I view the world, and ultimately who I am as a person. The PVPA community is incredibly fortunate to have him on faculty and would be making a huge mistake to let him go.

This is one of the most astounding absolutely disturbing things I have ever heard of this school doing. Lewis Goff has changed my life along with hundreds and hundreds of other students. I will be ashamed to have attended pvpa under the direction that it is under if this man is removed from his position. He deserves teacher of the decade. Nothing else. it is appalling to hear this news. It makes me embarrassed to be an alumn

I've been attending college for nearly two years. In that time, I've yet to have a professor as articulate, insightful or thoughtful as Lewis. Lewis completely the transformed the way I read about, wrote about, thought about and perceived the world around me. In my time at PVPA I took three classes with Lewis: 10th Grade English, African American Literature and Through White Eyes. These classes, without exception, were all spectacular. Lewis was able to create an environment in which high school students were able to openly talk about relevant topics and truly engage with vital questions.
Lewis was not only one of the most brilliant teachers I've ever had, but also one of the kindest. There were no lengths that he wouldn't go to to help students revise papers, comprehend concepts or feel listened to in class. Lewis sat with me, lunch after lunch, to help me revise my college application essay and I know, for a fact, that he did the same for countless other students.
It's hard for me to overstate the importance that Lewis has had on my life and academic career. Lewis gave me not only the tools to be a good English student, but the tools to be an engaged citizen. He helped prepare me for college and, simultaneously, helped me think critically about the world around me. I have yet to write a paper or make a public proclamation that hasn't, in some way or another, drawn upon something fundamental that Lewis taught me.
When I say the Lewis changed my life, I am not exaggerating all. He is invaluable and it would be a mistake to fire him.

Lewis was an incredible teacher. He taught me how to enjoy pushing my intelligence past just trying for an A. He is one of the cores of PVPA, to loose him would be just terrible for the student body but for as the school as a whole.

Disgusted by Pvpa and their idea to fire Lewis Goff so suddenly over the smallest thing but never cared when students wanted A LOT of other teachers gone for far more intense reasons. Seems like Pvpa only cares about what the admin wants over the students which is not new at all, just a very disappointing outcome ...

Longtime parent here. In these dark times this is the most heartbreaking news I have read. I am disappointed in PVPA administration and would love to be surprised by a petition being effective. Lewis' classes have been a sanctuary of thought and creativity for our kids. In college my child is on the Dean's list on the strength of her writing skills which were honed with Lewis' encouragement and wisdom.

Lewis has had an extremely positive effect on an overwhelming amount of students. I have not had him as a teacher personally but I cannot convey just how many times I've witnessed students raving about how interesting, and passionate he is about the topics he teaches. I very much hope that part of this meeting isn't backed up by the prior complications with language choice in the past, nobody is perfect and for everyone, there is room for improvement.

I may not have had lewis as my teacher when I was at pvpa but he always made it very clear to me that he cared about the students and that his door was always open no matter what the problem was. He also showed me that I didn't need to stop liking punk music if i was to be in a perfessional career. He is kinda, honest, and is an important role model for kids to look up to in high school.

Lewis was the best teacher I had at PVPA and made a large positive impact on my life in so many ways. Termination would be foolish and a huge loss for the school. Nobody was a more passionate or caring or informative teacher than he.
