Totally opposed to the proposed location for a fire station. Yes, we need one on this side of town. But not in a residential neighborhood. Surely, there is a parcel available on Godwin Drive closer to the DMV!!

My concern is the safety of children and parents walking and driving to the school. The proposed plans have the fire trucks using the same entrance road as the school. Please reconsider safer options.

This is not an appropriate placement for a fire station. It will pose a safety hazard for pedestrians, have a negative impact on my neighborhood quality of life, and adversely affect the value of my home. There is other land. Please reconsider.

Leave the neighborhood residential. Place the fire house near the existing DMV or airport.

It is a terrrible idea to place this fire station in a school zone. This is a quiet 100% residential neighborhood and under no circumstance, does anyone want this fire station replacing our tennis courts, distracting and endangering our school children, and disturbing residents. Last and not least to many, it will reduce property values in surrounding neighborhoods. Lower property values leads to lost property tax revenue and an overall downward spiral.

Please find another location that is not next to a school and not immediately backing to a residential community. Preserve park land.

I concur with the other residents, there are other options.

This is a major safety issue. There are better sites for a new fire station than one right in the middle of a residential neighborhood and immediately adjacent to a school. I attended the meeting on the 21st and there were several options for an alternative site that were brought up that the city have not considered. The elected officials need to do their job and listen to the citizens that elected them.

I agree with many of the other residents - there appear to be other locations nearby better suited to house the fire station than to disrupt our quiet neighborhood. As several residents have already mentioned, the industrial park along Godwin or locations near the airport seem to be much better for the fire station. We would rather not have the increase in heavy equipment traffic in the vicinity of the school and our homes.

These tennis courts are used everyday that weather permits, the school is right next door and uses the pavement daily during recess, there are becoming fewer and fewer wooded areas in the city for children to play and wildlife to live. There are more suitable areas within the city to build a fire station.. Please reconsider and keep it out of our little community.

I think this location is a bad idea for several reasons. The safety of our children walking and playing at Round is #1. The disruption to this residential area is #2. Please listen to these concerned citizens. Find another site for the fire station.

Manassas is getting out of hand. Could the city council leave a few trees behind. While you're at it, why don't you tear everything else around there down and put up more houses and apartments. Soon, there is going to be no where for kids to play.

This is not the place for a firestation. This area has little or no areas for the older kids to get together. There is plenty of open areas or empty strip malls that can be torn down in the city, why take away a park?

If the concern is having another station on this end of town, the industrial area further down Hastings seems to have space available and would be more suitable for a fire station.

This would be a poor decision by the City, with regards to safety and disruption of a quiet residential area. Imagine a fire rescue emergency happening while an elementary school is excusing students, many of whom walk home! Very poor choice on this plot of land!

Not only have we (Dave Madden and I) lost about 7 inches of our property over the years, we're about to lose our fence because of the erosion. The City placed "rip rap" at the mouth of the ditch to satisfy the neighbors at that end of the runoff, but told me they had no money to do it any further down the path. So at least some of the neighbors on that end haven't lost as much of their property. I wonder how loudly they had to complain to have it done in the first place? Among all the issues mentioned before by others, I'm more concerned about the damage that's being done to the lower part of our property and how much more, having the fire house built on that property, will increase that overflow to the drainage and cause even more loss to property.
