I've lived behind the park for almost 16 years, and in that time the drainage ditch behind my house (I won't refer to it as creek) has steadily eroded my yard, taking down trees along with the soil, undercutting my neighbor's fence, and flooding my back yard when there's a heavy storm. I've yet to be able to get the city's attention to have that problem fixed and have been told it's a "funding issue". How about fixing THAT problem before making it worse with increased water runoff from the concrete of the firehouse area as well as effluent from the equipment itself, not to mention he increased noise and loss of green space and animal habitat.. We also sure don't need any more bright lights blocking out the night sky or the rumbling of heavy trucks and alarms. Lots of construction area by the DMV and the generator plant...go THERE!

It seems like this would be a dangerous area to put this fire station, with the elementary school right next door. So many of the children from our neighborhood walk to the school.

Surely there are sites, perhaps closer to the airport, that the fire station can be located. In the middle of a residential neighborhood adjacent to an elementary school, should not be one of them. Thank you.

I am in opposition to this site for the proposed fire station. There are environmental factors, proximity to the elementary school and the fact that it is a residential area. Manassas is a Tree City and it will be a shame to take down all the trees necessary to put a building not to mention the wild life. There are other areas nearby on Godwin or Gateway that could fulfill the site needed. I am sure the residents would be very supportive of additional funds needed to buy land and it would be closer to the airport and 234 bypass in addition to the surrounding neighborhoods.
