Lee and Jackson were devote men of God. Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church of Roanoke (Predominately Black Church) has similar artwork dedicated to Jackson. The removal of this artwork would be a worse sin than ISIS destruction of historical sites in the Middle East. We can't understand history if we are purging it from view. There is nothing negative nor derogatory about this artwork.

I have several ancestors who fought for the south in the war. Why is it necessary to yield to the pc crowd and do away with part of our history? Will taking the glass down save one black child's life in Chicago? I don't think so.

These monument should not be removed. They are historic figures. It is important for young generations to study them so they don't repeat that dark time of our nation. Because they will one day take leadership.
