Save Launceston Hospital and it's Minor Injury Unit

Losing our local hospital in Launceston will result in a massive increase in costs as transport will have to be made availanble for essential trips to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, 25 miles away.

How many cuts until all is done I wonder? We really need to keep our little hospital please.

I'm a social work manager at Derriford hospital so consider community hospital having a pivotal role in encouraging safe discharges from an acute bed.similarly community hospital provide interim support for people who are unwell but who do not need an acute admission but need nursing care that nursing homes cannot provide. Particularly for our older client group.

Have received excellent care from this hospital in the past- please keep it open

We need this hospital much much more than we need all these houses but saying that with all the new houses being built we most definitely need this hospital . It will take the pressures of Derriford hospital and save sick people having to travel all the way to Plymouth and wait hours to be seen and then have to try and get back home . It makes absolutely know sense to close a very much needed hospital .

Disgraceful suggestion to close it, Derriford is busy enough.

This is ludicrous! Launceston lost its maternity provision over 20 years ago, then the land set aside for a new hospital was sold to a private care firm. The new surgery, opened in 1992 was already over-subscribed within 3 years and in the meantime, another 2000 homes have been built..adding to the problem. Then the A&E shut after 5pm around 8years ago. All this has pushed sick//pregnant residents to Derriford hospital 35 miles away...which is also busting at the seams. More houses are planned for Launceston...it's crazy to close this unit......wrong on every level.

I was on the longland committee to keep the maternity open. We cannot let this vital service to our community shut. Please sign the petition. Thank you.

We need this hospital. It is vital to our community for minor injuries and care for people leaving a main hospital after treatment. It lowers numbers at GPs and A&E at Derriford which is too far for North Cornwall residents to go.

Closing Launceston Hospital would put more pressure on the already over worked and hard pressed local doctors and the nearest hospital. Derriford hospital is at breaking point. It is also difficult to access from the Launceston area, there are long waits for all areas and parking virtually impossible and expensive.

Launceston is an expanding town with poor transport links. We rely on our hospital and without it the health needs would not be met.

With the planned growth in population for the town we need to have a vital local facility such as this.

In theses days of vast expansion with large building programs bringing more people into Launceston, the hospital should be expanding not closing . Launceston needs more infrastructure not less. What a bunch of clowns we have running our society.

This hospital has to stay open,its next to the busy a30 and we have a growing elderly population,plus they are building hundreds of new homes,people need to be able to get quick immediate treatmentand access to clinics and consultants,the bus service is unusable to get to hospital appointments at larger hospitals,Taxi prices are extortionate and out of reach for most people,not everyone has family or friends who would or could take them to hospital for appointments at Derriford in Plymouth

What a lost to the town and every one that live in the Area . To travel mile out of are way to be seen and for all the old people that don't drive .

We need this service

Not everyone can have home care and support. People can be vulnerable in their own home and for some these hospitals are a safe haven and offer support for those who are struggling to care for relatives. These small hospitals are essential....

We need this unit. How far are we ment to travel if our dauber has an asthma atttack!
