I worked at Los Alamos a year then went active duty to serve our nation as the members of Los Alamos have. It’s become a staple of me coming home to see family and catching up with friends at the range. Going to the range is not only a significant part of my coming home but also in creating a fun social atmosphere for all. It has done the same for every member of the sportsman’s club. I feel as though the Lab would be making a big mistake not restoring the lease because of the staple the club has had on Los Alamos and nearby White Rock.

The LASC is used frequently by the community. Forcing hundreds of monthly users to commute to other locations will add more traffic and pollution to Los Alamos and along the route(s) to other range(s). Maintaining a firearm range in Los Alamos is good sense to maintain self-defense skills, reduces traffic accidents while being environmentally friendly.

Large boon to the quality of life, providing a safe, quality space for a variety of shooting sports. Please reconsider any plans that may negatively impact the club!

The community needs this facility. Only safe place to sight in a rifle before a hunt or practice self defense with a class. One of the few actually nice things we have up on the hill.

Please don't close the range. It is a valuable resource for the town, and is constantly busy.

The Sportsmen’s club provides a location for safe, responsible shooting and archery activities for the Los Alamos community, including providing a location for periodic training and qualification for local law enforcement personnel and licensed armed citizens. Closing this range will result in shooting taking place in unauthorized, uncontrolled, and potentially dangerous locations. As a local instructor, a member of the LANL Institutional Firearms Safety Committee, and Non-security firearms safety program lead, I strongly advise permitting this facility to remain open.

The club has nurtured our family bonding by passing down our talents and knowledge of safe firearm control, shotgun trap sport shooting, hunting rifle practice and hand gun and archery. It would be a loss to those that use the facility.

The function of this property serves so much more than just a place to shoot firearms. It is a special location for families to spend time together and to pass down their shooting heritage. Helping to mold and develop young men and women into model citizens.

The cost of lead removal should sway the ruling in our favor.

The LASC provides an important safe facility for sportsmen and women in the area. Closing it would be a travesty.

This is a crucial resource for our community, especially for kids to learn valuable outdoorsman skills. Why take this away from us? Please reconsider!
