Public Funds for Public Moorages

As a Lakewood tenement for almost 8 years now, I have seen how little has been done to maintain the marina in almost usable form. With just a bit more to repair/replace some pilings it could be maintained for years to come and still provide a revenue stream to the city. Why give that away?

A 20 to 40 year leasehold agreement with Marina Management LLC is a transfer of park property within the meaning of Citizen's Initiative 42 and is illegal. Stop the madness! Let's Lakewood continue to be the park that it is.

Let's bring back a vibrant public marina with boats to rent and boating/boarding lessons.

The public trust should never be for sale.

As an avid boater who pays for moorage in the private slips at Leschi, I can assure you that our docks are in equal need of maintenance and repair. I would prefer to see the funding released to repair the public docks and that they remain owned by the city.

This moorage is critical to this socioeconomically, ecologically and racially diverse community which has historic, Olmstedian, Lake Washington community roots and significance. To let this gem leave the public's control would be crushing. Making the most of this resource by allowing say Seattle Parks & Rec to manage it is only right, and the sky's the limit to its potential.

I am opposed to the privatization of our public moorages at Leschi and Lakewood. Keep these public assets public in every sense!

My husband and I enjoy time on Lake Washington paddleboarding and sailing our Hobie from the Leschi marina. We often meet up with friends for paddleboarding adventures and introduce them to sailing on our boat. Public access to the lake is the REASON we moved to the Leschi neighborhood! The marina is our launch point to the lake, as it has been for decades. Please preserve its extensive history and maintain public access and municipal control. It would be SUCH a shame to see this historic public space turned over to private interests and exclusively available to elite boat owners. This space belongs to the Parks and should continue to in perpetuity!

Please don't make this private. So many people in our neighborhood use this. It is part of our community.

No privatization of our PUBLIC moorages! Save our public moorages for the PUBLIC to use. I also support using our PUBLIC or tenant moorage fees to fix our PUBLIC moorages.

The park should remain public. We have used the Moorage for 15 years and it is a huge part of the community whether you rent a space or not. Help us keep this precious area for the folks that actuly live here and enjoy the usage. Thank you

I look forward to a coalition of neighbors and tenants that are working together to manage the island and marina in a way that provides access to the community, preserves the charm, and increases the potential for revenue. Go!

No to privatization!! Rebuilding on the same footprint!... This is the most ecologically sound approach. Utilize current funds saved, and continuing moorage income to repair and rebuild the docks.

WE need to keep public resources public. Privatization will drive out moderate income tenants.
