Save Lake Del Valle Kayak Center

It is only logical that a local concessionaire be maintained because of the current concessionaire has the experience and is in good standing with the sport and has the expertise for running a smooth operation.

I can't imagine anyone better to run the facility the staff is friendly and very knowledgable they truly love what they are doing and believe it's more than a 9 to 5 job. Many employees carry certifications and know the kayaks well something your not going to get from an average rental company. Please show your support for our local businesses and keep revenues going back into the county.

I have been to the kayak center multiple times and have never been dissappointed. There helpfulness and friendliness is very professional. Would be a shame if they had to close up shop.

Sunrise Mountain Sports has spent years developing an excellent kayak program that provides a large variety of quality boats for rent, and also offers excellent classes for all levels of paddlers. They are a locally owned asset of the Livermore community, and should be allowed to continue to provide great service.

Sunrise staff has always supported the Healthy Parks Healthy People philosophy, long before the phrase was popular. Sunrise has done an excellent job creating and then running the Water Sport Concession at Lake del Valle, showing long term dedication, excellent service and innovation. Sunrise provides a large variety of boats and supports local schools and groups with excellent customized tours. To have a local company like Sunrise managing the Del Valle Kayak Center that both knows and loves Lake del Valle and kayaking is priceless. I hope the East Bay Regional Park Board does the right thing and retains Sunrise to run the Lake del Valle Kayak Center.

Why would sea kayaking enthusiasts who live near the coast go inland to Livermore to paddle? Because of Sunrise Mountain Sports! Their Kayak Center is much more than just a place to rent boats. Kim Grandfield and the crew at Sunrise have held clinics featuring highly rated guest coaches, have held events to benefit local clubs, and gives paddlers the chance to demo some unique kayaks. It would be a loss for the paddling community if Sunrise couldn't continue to operate the Lake Del Valle Kayak Center.

I have been a regular patron of Sunrise Mountain sports at Lake del Valle and in Livermore for a few years. I live in San Francisco but travel frequently to del Valle for kayak instruction and training as well as to Sunrise Mtn Sports' Livermore store to buy my boats and (too much) related gear. I would never drive so far if Sunrise Mtn Sports' staff and owners were not the best kayaking coaching and retail outfit in the region. As others have said, they provide so, so much more than the popular sit on top rentals. Dedicated kayakers from this area have access to top coaches, other experienced paddlers, a wonderful selection of high end boats for demo/rental and instruction for beginners and the very advanced. Again, I can buy all of these things closer to home , but prefer to travel to the East Bay buy from Sunrise Mountain Sports and to support beautiful Lake del Valle with fees. It would be a significant loss to the paddling community to install another vendor which would be unlikely to have such superb equipment and instructors. Keep Sunrise Mountain Sports at Lake del Valle!

EBRPD should support local vendors especially those with an established interest in their communities.

Please renew the watersports rental concession of Sunrise Mountain Sports at Lake Del Valle. They have a demonstrated history of competence and experience and there is no good reason to throw this out for unknown future results. There should be a very good reason to terminate a successful and competent vendor, but I am not aware of any and suspect there are no good reasons for making a change. Thank you for considering this position.

This business adds value at the lake.

Sunrise has done a tremedously good job thusfar with promoting activities and their professionalism is something benificial to the park. To go a different route would be a drastic mistake. Sunrise is the only reason I take a drive from Stockton to go to DeValle Lake to kayak and participate in their events.

Sunrise Mountain Sports runs a smooth and efficient operation. Why are you taking a step backwards?

We've used the Sunrise Mountain Sports renatl facility at the lake many times, ad we've always been delighted with the service we've gotten. Their staff is well-trained and professional, and their equipment i high quality and in very good shape. We've rented from a lot of different places, and Sunrise has by far the best selection of boats. I really hope they stay at Del Valle.
