Save Lake Del Valle Kayak Center

I would like to see Sunrise Mountaineering continue with their Kayak program at Del Valle. They have done an outstanding job there and are an asset to the park.

Sunrise Mtn sports has provided my wife and to learn to Kayak. We ahve frequently used Del Valle and it is the kayaking classes and expert reccommendations as to how to enjoy kayaking more that drew us there. In addition we buy food at the food hut and have had family picnics. All because of the opportunity to rent the kayaks and other water craft. Please keep Sunrise in place to run the rental. thank you.

Experience in this business is invaluable for the safety of the customer. Sunrise has what it takes to do it right.

the boat house run by Sunrise Mountain Sports is a trendous asset to not only Livemore residents for the entire East Bay. I live in Oakland and Del Valle is the only place in the region where you can rent a sea kayak and paddle it in a lake.

Stick with Sunrise local, professional, and contributing more to the park.

Let them stay

I am appalled to hear that EBRPD is considering changing the kayak concession for Lake Del Valle and giving it to a non-local business. Kim Granfield's Sunrise Mountain Sports, the current local concessionaire, has spent years developing many innovative programs since they have run the concession, vastly increasing the quality and availability of the kayak experience to Lake Del Valle. It turned a very poor offering into a wonderful one with activities for both families and experienced kayakers including classes and events that attract people even from out of the immediate area. It is a local business, near the lake, which can respond quickly to any problems if needed. Unless the bidding process has produced some demonstrable benefit to EBRPD and to park users, there is no reason that a distant company should get the concession in preference to Kim. He spent years building the sport of kayaking at Del Valle. Those of us who have benefited from his efforts believe he should be rewarded with a continuing contract. The process of selection should be open and include input from the public who use the concession. I would like to see the reason for a recommended change from the current arrangement, including financial terms. I ask you to keep the kayak concession with Kim Granfield's Sunrise Mountain Sports. Sunrise has done a great job at Del Valle. The kayak center is successful because of Sunrise. Their hard work should not be allowed to benefit a different group. Sunrise will be putting more money in the parks coffers than the competing group. For the benefit of the park and the community, KEEP SUNRISE AT DEL VALLE!!

I HAVE KAYAKED WITH SUNRISE MOUNTAIN SPORTS ON THERE RENTAL KAYAKS FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND THEY DO A WONDERFUL JOB OF RUNNING THE KAYAK CENTER AT DEL VALLE. S THEY ARE FROM OUR AREA AND VERY PROFFESONAL

Please allow Sunrise Mountain, to continue operating their Lake Del Valle Kayak center. They have been and are a great resource for Livermore and the surrounding cities for a number of years. I don’t live in Livermore, but I do go to the lake and use their facility. I also shop in downtown Livermore on my way to the lake.

It would be crazy to close this place!

Sunrise Mountain Sports, despite its name, has nurtured the community in its local enjoyment of water sports at Del Valle Regional Park. Unless there are really substantial reasons for a change, there shouldn't be one. SMS is known, trusted, and loved.

I support Sunrise, locally owned, great people. Keep them, they provide a great service to Del Valle and the community.

I add my name to those who support Sunrise Mountain Sports continued operation of the watersports rental concession at Lake Del Valle Park. I urge you to reconsider your course of action and keep Sunrise Mountain Sports on.

Sunrise Mountain Sports have been huge supporters of paddle sports. I can think of no better business to run the concession at Lake Del Valle

Please reconsider the kayak center for Lake Del Valle

Sunrise has been a great resource both at Del Valle and the Livermore community. Why replace them with another firm with no local track record? We want to keep Sunrise as a viable business in Livermore.

Please keep this concession open. There are a lot of people who love to go to Del Valle and Kayak, including myself. Sunrise Mountain Sports have always been nice to work with. Please reconsider your decision to bring another concession in to take their place. Thank you, Susan Allsbrook
