Save Kully Bay Homeless

Be kind to those who don't have a roof over their heads. Had the indigenous been in charge, then they would have gladly shared their sacred land with these homeless folks. Just remember one word. Karma.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. The Illawarra is experiencing a homelessness crisis as many don’t have access to a stable home. With short notice and no options this is a harsh and impractical decision. Wollongong ranks third in NSW for people accessing homeless support services. Kicking people out of perhaps the only place they could find to stay reveals a lack of awareness and care for our local people doing it tough.

Action for Public Housing NSW stands with the Kully Bay residents. No evictions! Council and state government should buy the park and let the tenants stay!

Leave them be there not hurting any one

It is simply outrageous that instead of helping these people who are in a pretty desperate situation with nowhere to go, the state government is sinking the boot in even further. Absolutely heartless. NSW Labor, hang your heads in shame. We need a national builder to start building 100,000's of public housing units *now* to address this national housing crisis (I have seen a few similar camps spring up like this close to where I live in QLD)

I was proud of Wollongong council showing understanding and empathy towards people who can no longer afford to live in this area. Homelessness services are completely overloaded and until there is staate or federal funding allocated to attend to this crisis, there are no beds for people. Or safety within these shelters for some. Please allow these people to remain where they are. I am a resident of Wollongong and support the people living by the lake in carparks not often frequented by the public. If you must move them on, open some crown land for these people to dwell upon.

Leave them be, they are not harming anyone. Too much homelessness and people want to uproot these people I can think of a lot worse happening in the world

Housing should be a human right. Government shouldn't be clearing out homeless people, it should be giving them homes.

Leave the people and lake shore alone we don't need any developments there!

Support the homeless and less fortunate Let them stay here and try to live out there lives the best way possible for them

Homelessness is not a crime. I'd rather live in a community that wants to help those affected by homelessness than one with a 'pretty' lake front. Council needs to actively help people, not give them a flyer with overburdened helplines listed on it and a 'move on' order.

At least they safe there. Where do you want them Council? Stop making life harder for everyone involved...you don't need that la d!!

Please help

Housing is a human right. The federal government has signed a multitude of human rights treaties including ones which enshrine a right to safe and adequate living. Instead of moving a group of people trying to survive as a small community, make housing and rentals affordable and earn your paychecks as government employees.

Before ejecting homeless people, please provide them with an alternative.

So inhumane to throw people out of an unused area without any support or infrastructure. Good on those organising around it!!
