What a disgusting situation Richard finds himself in after such commitment to his work..the reason given for this is even more ridiculous.WHenever Richard is on holiday the post goes to ruin so let's see how quick and accurate the temporary replacement is

Richard is a really valued member of our community and has always been incredibly helpful. He's one of life's good guys and, in fact, was a bit of a lifesaver when I had just moved to Kentisbeare and was stuck at home going crazy with a five week old baby. His morning conversation helped make me feel human. The fact he makes time to have a quick chat with people should never be seen as a bad thing.

Richard is a very friendly helpful dutiful guy who epitomises everything that is good about the post service. Ridiculous news, after 20+ years maybe he just getting on a bit ;-) profit over service once again!!

not in their village but my sister lives there and they deserves to get their mail on time!!! NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES!!!!

Richard is a valued member the community, I can remember having a laugh and joke with him. He counts towards personal customer service. He will be greatly missed by the community if he is not reinstated.

This decision represents everything that is wrong with the management of RM. Does customer service count for nothing? Richard is a true example of fantastic service to a rural community - why take that away? I find it hard to believe that this will turn out to be a financially sound decision anyway. Shame on you RM!

I wonder if the powers that be have factored in rurality and the fact that this guy may be the only person some people may see all week to have a chat with. In the country the post turns up when it turns up , got a problem with this then go live in the town!

What is the world coming to, humanity dismissed for a few minutes of extra time. As the Tortoise said: slow and thorough wins the race. I'd rather have my post arrive late and a friendly helpful postie any day. Good for him!

Seeing Richard in his schoolboy-esque shorts was synonymous for many growing up in K'Beare.

I am in the village every day and would see Richard.He was Always very curious, happy and polite. He Will be a loss to the village. To Some people the postman is the only person they see for days, their role is vital in small communities like kentisbeare. More houses are being built, extra areas are bulked together and the poor posties have no extra time to do it. My dad was a postman for 36 years and his service to his postal community was invaluable and was shown when he retired by the hundreds of cards, gifts and messages he received and true friends he made on his round. They promote the post-office by their actions and are your envoys, and Richard does this which is why he should be reinstated.

This man has been part of my life for as long as I CAN REMEMBER. He delivered my post during the most difficult and joyous times of my life with compassion, sensitivity,efficiency and humour in all weathers without complaint. YOU REWARD these unblemished years of service by demoralising his role in the community to that of standardising his job to one that fills the gaps and just delivers the post to wherever. Where is the job satisfaction in that. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED.
