how can people better themselfs, get better careers for the sake of their children//future with out support of the nursery?! Its convenient, a lot of students//teachers use it, why not make better use of the empty spaces they already have. Doesn't make sense to get rid of it. x

Disgusted by the college's decision to close Jungle Cats Nursery. I personally feel that the reason given for closure lacks justification; the space within Jungle Cats would only be big enough for one or two classrooms, and can't see how that would make much difference to students. The staff at Jungle Cats have worked extremely hard to make it the successful, caring, nurturing environment that it is, and they do not deserve this.. Furthermore, the majority of children under care at Jungle Cats are of the students and staff that attend South Essex College, and by closing the nursery, the college is putting its own teaching staff under the extreme stress of trying to find another nursery in the area, of the same quality, that is not oversubscribed, or is not miles and miles away. Also, a number of access and degree students would find it impossible to study at the college without Jungle Cats! The nursery makes the college money, is rated Ofsted outstanding, and now the college want to make the hardworking staff redundant and disrupt the routines and friendships built of the children who attend.

SEC why would you take away a safe environment for children to play and learn? Students and staff avail of this facility and depend on the facility to be close to their children while working or studying. If the senior management team hadn't "misplaced" a million pounds and let rouge managers with a past of defrauding their previous employers and not tried to monopolise FE in Essex with the if they build it they will come mentality life would be easier for staff and students there. There are underpaid amazingly talendented staff there that seriously need Jungle Cats so they can go to work and blossoming students too. Who will fill these small classrooms if the lecturers leave and the students with children can't enroll. This is not differentiation in education at all and undermining what FE is about. We all need to tighten our belts but not at the expense of an OUTSTANDING OFSTED NURSERY with excellent staff. Sell off some of your land SEC and cherish your staff and students with children.

Think all the staff are lovely and professional in their approach, jungle cats provides child care for staff, students and workers in the area, allowing for equal opportunities and helping both the college and the local economy.

Excellent care facility. Would be a loss to pare to and carers and their children in Southend. It's proximity to the university /college and the station make it a popular choice, as do its excellent staff and management team.

A wonderful nursery with wonderful staff that helped me with childcare through college and work and have a fantastic holiday club which I also used! Best childcare provider in southend!

Do not close this resource for parents trying to better their and their families lives by returning to study. If students have to take their preschool age children elsewhere this will aid even greater strain ( through travel time etc) to their lives.

The staff here are amazing! They have helped me with issues with my child with support I did not know was available. It's a fantastic site on the college which helps the staff and student who work and attend there. Do not close it down. The provision is excellent!

jungle cats enabled me to continue working which I absolutely loved, without it, I probably wouldn't have been able to continue due to childcare and travelling. My daughter is now in year 1 at school and is doing very well, this is due to the excellent start she had at jungle cats, it would be sad to see it go for other parents.

Closing the nursery goes against the basic values the college promotes under its P.R.O.U.D values (http://www.southessex.ac.uk/about-us/strategic-plan-and-our-values); Creating an environment which gives opportunity, inclusivity and education for all is integral to education. Having this OUTSTANDING nursery in the college enabled students and staff from a variety of cultural and financial backgrounds to have first rate childcare whilst undertaking their education/careers. The decision seems short sighted at best and not entirely justified as there are areas within the college that are not timetabled in an efficient way.
