I have known Jan for almost 30years. She has dedicated her life to caring for animals & provided an invaluable veterinary service to the community. Her generosity has enabled many financially vulnerable people to receive services for their pets that they would not otherwise be able to afford.

Jan is an amazing vet and shes so friendly and i havnt came across a better vet

Growing up in Hall, Jan Spate taught me a lot about horse management, from the best feeds for horses with laminitis through to what to feed my first brood mare and all the treatment that goes in-between including electrolyte balance for event horses and caring for wounds, colic, foals... and the list goes on. When Jan made a suggestion, it was from the bottom of her heart that it was the in the best interest for the wellbeing of the animal and she has proved to me time and time again that despite not having all the you latest's gadgets and technology she has a wealth of knowledge far beyond that, although never hesitant to recommend another vet surgery when required. I have in the last few years moved to Melbourne and been unimpressed by the service and hesitance to give you all the facts from my local vets accompanied by an exorbitant bill at the end. We need more vets like Jan in the world, I definitely miss her now I've moved away and appreciate what a loss she will be should the community lose her services around Canberra. I am signing this on behalf of all the silent voters without a voice - Jan's patients - without her there will be many who will suffer needlessly. Jan is a compassionate practical professional - this is a travesty of justice, and I hope that the 'powers that be' will be influenced by thousands of animal lovers. The world needs more people like Jan Spate.

Jan is the kind of vet the government should be supporting!! Who else would treat my pet chicken with the same degree of care and knowledge.

absolutely I support Jan! We've used her services for our dogs and our guinea pig! I always recommend her to anyone looking for a new vet.

Ridiculous decision, just because Jan gives no-frills vet care doesn't mean she gives bad vet care. Show me the vet who doesn't have someone calling them a butcher. There seems to be a lot of axe-grinding being done by some people who are more than happy to bad-mouth Jan based on hear-say and innuendo. Not to mention a lot of large vet practices that would love to get their greedy mitts on Jan's client list and engender the same fierce loyalty as Jan does. I thank god for the number of times Jan has been there willing to open up when a catastrophe has struck, and you don't find her charging double time because it's out of hours.

I have known Jan nearly all my life and I spent a lot of my teenage years learning from her the important morals of life not to mention animal welfare and her love and dedication to animals and their owners. She has the most gentle soul which is shown through her practice and to absolutely anyone who has met her. If her practice is closed it will be a tragedy to all.

I have seen this ladies treatments on my daughter's animals, with Jan around my daughter can afford to get her animals treated. Is she been unfairly treated because she puts pets first before $$$$s. Leave Jan alone, let her treat our animals.

I am sure the wisdom of the board members will come forth and Jan will be supported to continue her work as the most compassionate vet I have met in the past 60 years!

This woman is the most amazingly genuine vet that cares about our animals and not her bank balance or top notch furniture in her surgery. She will treat the tiniest of critters up to our big boys. When our pets are unwell we don't even hesitate to take them the 45min drive to her as we know they will get tge best care and we will be able to afford the bill. If she closes down I'm afraid that like us many of us will hesitste in saving a chook who requires antibiotics (Jans cost $25 for consult and drugs versus the local vet over $100 for the same) she has nursed our chooks, cats and dogs and horses back to health with us choosing to drive 45mins each way per visit, sometimes requiring multiple visits in a week for injections etc and it is still our choice to do this rather than go the several clinics 5mins away. This is our choice and many others! Just because she doesn't have a clinic that looks like the rest dosnt make it one of less quality. Who cares about an animals welfare more than its owner? Noone... so why would we take them there if we thought it was not in their best interest or the best possible outcome would occur!! The vet board is going to give potentially thousands of ACT and NSW animals DEATH Sentences! People will hesitate to get care for their animals and will make the devastating decision to euthanase their pets when they can not afford the exorbitant bills from all the other vets or at their suggestion. Jan you have the support of Willowvale. I will send this off the the vet board today. Please keep fighting. We need you!

Jan has been mentioned through reputable businesses and personal friends many times over the years and when I visited finally, I now know why she is compassionate about animals and her generosity is what other practices dont give. We need more like Jan spate in this community and a lot of other vets should follow her example not try to close down what the community wants and needs.

Jan Spate is finally a vet who cares about animals and not extracting every last cent out of her clients. I have taken my chickens and pooch to Jan on several occasions and have always been impressed with her service. My family and I would be devastated if her practice were to close. Please don't let this happen!
