Jan is 100% dedicated to her clients and the animals, we would b lost without her ongoing commitment...

Jan is the best vet I have encountered in Australia and the USA. Growing up I spent a lot of time at Jan's house and practice, and I went to school with her kids. Without a doubt, the best care was given to every animal, either wildlife rescue or pet that is possible. It's was never the most modern clinic, people didn't care and would bring their pets from hundreds of miles away to be seen by the best. It's not all about having the best equiptment, it's about caring, knowledge, explerience and loving what you do. If I ever move back to Canberra, Jan will be the only vet my pets will ever see. Please don't take Jan's license, you are only punishing the animals.

Its our right to choose who we take our sick pets to..If people dont like Jan then simple go elsewhere, but dont take away our choice of sticking with her!!!

Jan has saved my animals lives on many occasions my beloved 16 yr jackrussel would not be with me today with out her vetinary care not to mention my horses over years

Jan Spate has been treating our animals for many years. Is this revocation of her licence due to other vets loss of business because they can't compete on price and animal welfare.

Jan is a great vet and without her there will be a lot of animals going without veterinary care as she is the most cost effective vet in and around canberra. We have bulk billing/cheaper doctors for humans so why not have the same for our fury friends. Jan my not have the state of the art facilities and everyone is aware of that, and Jan is always honest about whether or not she has the equipment to perform certain things and if not she will refer to other vets. It is ridiculous that her knowledge, experience and practices are judged on her facilities. Please dont shut her, if she goes a lot of animals will suffer because of this.

I have known Jan and my pets have been her clients for over 15 years. She is a no frills vet that really cares for the animals and their welfare - not making money.

Dr Jan Spate has been the most compassionate vet I've ever used. In the 14 years I've been using Dr Jan Spate I've never encountered a problem it is so sad the vet board want her gone and won't give a reason why. All I can think of is more and more people are using her with her skills and affordability.

Although not a client of Jan's, I have witnessed her compassion and understanding towards others - particularly members of the public that would otherwise be unable to take their pets to a vet due to financial constraints. Jan dedicates her life to animal welfare regardless of the social status of the client - a quality I have not seen elsewhere.

I remember my dad and mum seeing Jan Spate's for our dogs. One night we were trick or treating as children and we had two pups Benny and Daisy. It was about 7:30pm and we were on our way home when Benny got out of his collar to chase a possum across the road, a car was speeding down the street and Benny got hit. My dad called Jan and she opened her clinic to see Benny, Unfortunately Benny's Spine was broken and he had to be put down. My parents were not financial whatsoever and were grateful to Jan for seeing Benny when they didn't have a cent on them, that night Jan went a step further and didn't charge my dad any money. We didn't have Benny for long but him and his sister were our first family pets and we were distraught, Jan was so caring and loving. I was only a kid but I will forever remember and be grateful for her help on this terrible night. She then became the vet for Daisy and every visit she charged at the lowest rate and let my dad pay off the costs. Thank you Jan!! My children now have two dogs and now I know you are still there I hope that you will become our family vet. I do however really feel for Mr Snowden and empathise why he has taken this action. He is devastated and seems to honestly be doing it out of concern. In saying this PLEASE don't let this one bad advise takeaway a vet that has been operating for many years looking after our animals. If we don't have someone like Jan here in Canberra many animals will die or be left untreated and in pain. As people or arn't financial will have nowhere to take there pets.

How many vets will open up at any time of the day or night for a sick injured animal, Canberra/NSW need a vet like Jan who puts the animal first and the cost second, she was the only one who went out to a Rottie who had been hit by a car and had a broken back, she went out and put it to sleep and then bought it back to her surgery and let the owners know, this was at night well after closing time. She fills the void for many different people, people who only have their animals and no family, their animals are their life and when they get sick they know they can take them to Jan and not be charged over the top prices, any other vet would just refuse to treat the animal or be forced to put it to sleep which has happened many times at one vet practice. Jan tells it like it is, if the animal needs to go to god she says so, she will never let an animal suffer for the sake of $$$$$ like many other vets do. She is a country vet and has operated as a walk in clinic for many decades and is highly respected in the community.

This country needs more vets like Jan. She is dedicated, honest and doing a brilliant job for the animals. She has saved my dog who was ripped apart from a big roo. I called her at 7pm at night and after a full day of surgery/clinics she admitted to be being very tired, but said " bring him in ". She goes above and beyond and charges the minimum, unlike most vet practices. She need a bloody OAM not ridicule.

My famaly have heen useing jan for at least 30year all our horses dogs cats, famaly has heen horse breaders for 45years she has been one of the best vets we have used and still use. she is needed by so many and i carnt think of a bad thing about her

If it wasn't for Jan I would have lost my Python as other clinics either didn't do anything to bring him back to health or refused all together to treat him because he was a reptile. I took him to Jan and she told me his probably wasn't going to make it but she tried to help him anyway and by the next day his condition had improved. Because of Jans dedication to the welfare of her client animals, my Python is now back to good health. Jan is an amazing vet and is dedicated to her work and shouldn't be shut down.

Please, please do not shut Jan down she is a wonderful caring person, we have taken all our animals to Jan for years. Many of our animals lives have been saved by Jan, she works tirelessly to do everything she can to bring them back to health, she doesn't give up when most other vets would and do. It will be so hard to find a new vet for our family, who is as dedicated and caring as Jan.

The petition has closed as it has reached its goal, however I am adding my comment here in support of keeping Jan Spates practice up and running. Jan, a personal thank you from myself, Annette Newbery and my Mum, Heidi Newbery. You have saved many animals and shared so much knowledge with us and we are sooo grateful. There have been a couple that haven't made it, but we could see it teared at your heartstrings as much as it did ours. Please accept our humblest gratitude for all that you've done for us personally.
