Only been to Jan once with one of my furbabies but she was great. Sad to see her go as she is for the animals not the the flash and expensive practice.

Jan is the best vet I have ever had. My dog had a tick, I called Jan at midnight one night and she said to come right over. I got there and Jan had dragged herself out of bed to treat him, despite the fact that she herself had a full on case is pneumonia. I have never met anybody more committed to animal care, and less worried about profiting from it. Very disappointed she is in this position.

She is the only vet that hasnt asked for money up front for any medical procedure, she actually cares about the health of the animal and the owner rather than they money she needs to make. You dont find that in many canberra vets let me tell you from experiance.

I have known of Jan Spate and her veterinary practice for about 40 years and have always been impressed by her professionalism, humanity and flexibility. As we have a large turnover of horses which have been dumped or donated, many of them have very little value. To Jan they are all valuable as individuals not just as a job. She invariably puts extra effort and time into these abandoned animals. Many of these animals would end their short lives at the knackers if it were not for rare vets like Jan, rather than going on to become pleasure or competition horses. Jan is a clever and skilled vet who will think outside the box in order to achieve an outcome which is best for the animal and its owner. She has a depth of experience and knowledge far above that of most veterinary surgeons and would probably be lecturing in the field if it were not that she enjoys caring for animals and their owners more.

Jan has been my whole families vet for over 12 yrs and we've never complained once for any actions she has taken. She may be your non conventional vet but be asured she gets the job done, caring for the animal and amount the family can pay and she'll never turn you away if you cant pay, she'll always think of the animal first. Keep up the good work for the community.

I have been using Jan as my Vet for over 30 years and I have nothing but praise for this wonderful person who always puts the animals she is caring for 1st 2nd x and 3rd
Doesnt matter what time or what day she will be there
