I am shocked and saddened by this news. Once again money and its lure for a few rule our lives; and so we lose more valuable ideas such as the necessity of protecting green public spaces and the promotion of good mental and spiritual health, from which we will all benefit. These gardens are a delight to visit and should not be lost.

Plans seem to suggest that the land at Inkwell Garden is 'currently vacant'. Far from the case! The team at Inkwell and The Conservation Volunteers organisation have tended this space to create growing allotments, wildflower areas, and relaxing green space for clients of Leeds Mind and Inkwell to benefit from, along with the rest of the Leeds LS8 community. It's valued by so many people as a friendly, relaxing green space, and community events are held in it every year. This precious space is integral to the therapeutic value of Inkwell and its community cafe to allow it to be trashed and built on by private developers.

People need green spaces and it is essential for human beings to be around natural elements and have a safe place for kids to play. Building flats in that area will significantly decrease the residents' well being. Leeds City Council-is money making more important that people of Leeds??
