I've watched this team swim amazing meets, and was a part of the team myself when I lived it the area! It would be terrible to see such a great team shut down.

swimming is by far the greatest sport we can promote for young people. To have a YMCA cancel its program does nothing but hurt all the youth in the community that should never take place. We should be going out of her way to grow programs like this not cooked.

What a mistake it would be to stop the program. So many swimmers would be hurt; it may reverberate to also losing masters swimmers.

Keep our kids in the pool! It's so important, it keeps them safe, and teaches them about responsibility and teamwork. Please don't close down the HRY swim team. Our future depends on our children. Keep them active and out of trouble.

Swimming is a lifetime activity which benefits all ages from the youngest to the oldest. It in inclusive and well represents the values of YMCAs. It is also extremely difficult to restart such a program after the realization that it was a mistake to end it. Swimmers have left to join other teams and will not return. Don't do it! Keep such a valuable program!

If the swim team is removed from Northampton YMCA, I will leave the YMCA and will recruit at least 10 other families to join me.

Just moving my comment over here to the discussion section: I can't begin to list all the ways that this swim team has benefited members of my family. To my knowledge, Mr Marks and the Board have taken no input from stakeholders and have presented no data showing how the Y's services for the whole community will be improved, or how it's bottom line will be bolstered, by eliminating the swim team. As the Y is a non-profit organization and community resource, I'm shocked that they would make such a radical move without fully assessing the impact on their constituents (and their donors).

I swam for HRY in the late 90s and it was so formative for me! From teaching me the benefits of hard work and dedication to providing me with a strong, friendly, and open peer group that accepted me for me, I would truly not be the person I am today without this team. Please save it, nurture it, and keep it thriving for the next generation!

I fail to see the foresight in considering eliminating such a wonderful, healthy and community-building institution as the Dolphins especially when our youth have so many negative distractions such as the proliferation of electronic gaming and opioids tempting them and threatening to undermine parents' efforts to teach good choices.
