Harford county needs MORE resources for its growing population and health needs. It makes absolutely no sense to shrink the resources we now have. The hospital in Bel Air is at capacity all year round . We need more beds and the behavioral health unit CANNOT be placed in a location that is currently occupied year round by medical patients.

This must be monetarily motivated. Upper Chesapeake needs more beds. The community desperately needs behavioral health beds. Maryland Health Care Commission MUST approve these!

As a long time resident of this community, I see daily growth and expansion of the county. The citizens of the county need and deserve access to adequate number of beds.

Harford County residents deserve to not have to wait in the Emergency Department for many hours to be treated and then to be admitted. The overcrowding in the ED and the lack of available beds is at crisis level.

Please help the residents of Harford Co. This will not only help the opioid/drug abuse crisis patients but also the families that need help dealing with loved ones in addiction.

Expansion needed. People do not enjoy being sick and stuck in ER till a bed is available. Hospitals grow with community needs!

I have a family member in Harford County who’s needed inpatient behavioral health and had to wait in both Hfd Co. ERs for MUCH too long waiting for an open bed. And I wk at UM UCH and have heard about very difficult waits for psych patients wtg in our ERs for an inpatient bed for DAYS, as well as boarding non psych patients waiting days for medical/surgical beds. The state will be doing a disservice to the citizens in this area of the county if we don’t get these psych AND inpatient beds and the replacement facility with a full service ER.

This is highly needed for Harford County and I am truly disappointed that our Heath Care Commission is not supportive of such a forward thinking plan that my home area desperately needs!

We need these beds and facilities approved for Harford County residents. With the impending closing of Harford Memorial Hospital, anything less would be inadequate and irresponsible.

I am a Nurse Practitioner in the primary care clinic at Upper Cheseapeake Health in Havre de Grave. I see every day patients who desperately are in search of a psychiatric provider and urgent psychiatric care. This will cripple the community who is already in need of services. I urge you to look at the Harford County Health Department's 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment which can give you insight into the problem. Harford County is already designated as a health professional shortage area for mental health providers. Patients in Havre de Grace and Aberdeen who need these services often have other social issues that does not allow them to travel to the Bel Air area for care. You are doing a disservice to this community that already lacks many services. Do not let this community become even more marginalized by this action!

There are not enough psychiatric beds - to limit that further will impact both psychiatric and medical patients in the county. This will have a real impact on all health care in the county and is not acceptable.
