SAVE HASLEMERE'S PUBLIC TOILETS

So where else is their a public toilet if it goes they have already closed the one on top of Weyhill absolutely ridiculous

The House of Commons produced a rather interesting document "The Provision of Public Toilets Twelfth Report of Session 2007–08". I quote from this"... Lavatory humour is deeply ingrained in British society, epitomised by films such as “Carry On at Your Convenience” and by countless jokes and euphemisms. However, going to the toilet is a universal need—...and public toilets are a necessity for anyone who wants access to public spaces if those public spaces are not to be degraded. Public toilets are especially important for older people, disabled people, families (especially those with babies and very young children), women, tourists and visitors. Also, since opening hours were extended for licensed premises, there has been a greater need for public toilets to be open for longer...". Come on Waverley, don't be retrograde, keep this loo going, please!

Absolutely essential to keep these facilities. Why when Council taxes rise do the facilities decrease!!! Just visited Midhurst brilliant loos and cheap parking. Come on Waverley let us keep our toilet facilities.

I cannot understand how in the 21st century anyone can think its acceptable that locals and visitors alike using Haslemere's facilities would not find a public convenience amongst them.

As a lifelong resident of Haslemere,i am disgusted that waverley once again abdicates its responsibilites to tax payers,and tries to plunder town resources.

Please do not close these public loos, they are so important. I have sometimes been caught short and where else is there?

It would be scandalous that a town the size of Haslemere could be without a public toilet, such a vital resource.

These toilets are a life saver for anyone who uses haslemere- the elderly, people with young kids etc. Other shops don't like you just going in to use the loos.

I am a School mum who helps out with school runs for fellow working mums and these toilets are a must when they are 'caught short' half the way home. I don't want to have to drag them into a pub or a coffee shop.

Are you completely bonkers? Have you never needed a public loo?

Look at Petersfield as a shining example of increasing footfall by excellent loos and cheap parking. If they c;lose them here it will just drive more people away!

Please keep the loos open - we have grandchildren and it is good to know there are loos available !

The council is supposed to provide public services to the public. You cannot expect traders with loos to make them available to non-customers, when they have a hard enough time as it is, and what about disabled, children, people with urinary infections, prostate problems. Oh yes, of course, it's a Tory council so will hammer the most vulnerable.

The only toilet left in the town and the want to close it.why why

We all need to use the toilet, so why take away a very basic facility for a very basic function.

Towns the size of Haslemere must have toilets for both visitors and residents. 'alternative arrangements' in not way would meet those needs.

This is a vital facility, particularly for the disabled. Local services are relentlessly being taken away, but this is where the line must be drawn.

Keep open. Very important facility for everyone

This is a disgusting move by a council who have no respect for it's taxpayers-quite a few of whom are elderly and need this amenity.
