This is really disappointing for us as parents of a potential student at Gustavus. This was our #1 choice for many reasons including the Nordic Program. Now, we will have to look elsewhere.

While I wasn't a GAC Nordic skier, some of my best friends and running teammates were. I am heartbroken for the Gustie Nordic Alumni, current skiers, and prospective students who's dreams have been cut.

We have had two children graduate from Gustavus, and now were proud to have a grandson become a Gustie. We also were our church representatives for a number of years . Please do not remove Nordic Skiing as a competitive sport, and crush his dreams. Nordic skkio

What an underhanded move by a university with plenty of access to funding. Claiming that cutting a well established group will be improve university life is more than rude, it's insulting to everyone in the team and their dedication to their sport.

Nordic skiing was the reason I chose Gustavus. I met my wife there, and it breaks my heart to know that the current administration does not see the value that the ski team offers and so our future child may not have the opportunity to choose Gustavus to ski in college.

lethis program is the definition of the liberal arts education that Gustavus students receive, all the members are high achieving and consistently show hard work in the classroom and on the trails. This program transformed me and gave me lasting connections. There is no reason to cut a sport that not only draws talented students, like the ones who keep the team GPA around 3.5 every year; but is also part of Gustavus's Swedish heritage. Please let your voice be heard for this team!

The Nordic Ski team deserves a better explanation for what has been done. The fact that they were not provided with an explanation for as to why proves that there is none. Many students are considering transferring because of the cuts, and just a portion of one of these student's tuitions could fund the entire team. Gustavus is a school with enough resources to pay its president over $500,000 a year, yet, programs that draw students specifically to Gustavus are cut "for non financial reasons." I am very disappointed by this decision and hope to see a huge campus outcry.

Gustavus is heading down the wrong path for a private liberal arts college that promotes the liberal arts experience.
