Sports make better students, and more productive members of society. Why would you want to get rid of that?

As a coach at a middle school in North Minneapolis I see a bright future for Nordic skiing - high school programs growing, more high schools adding a ski team, more participants from diverse backgrounds - I'm saddened to see that my alma mater is "dimming" that bright future

As a high school ski coach it is sad to see that with the elimination of the Gustavus ski team, graduating athletes will only have two choices for NCAA ski teams. Scholastica and Olaf.

I believe that some of the most well rounded students are athletes. On top of that lost would be nordic skiers because they have great personal drive. Also, one very important thing in life is time management and Nordic skiing is one smart and fun way to develope that. It requires students to get there work done for training as well as maintaining a healthy lifestyle so they can compete at the too of there game.

Who will the Oles compete with now!! The Gustavus Nordic team always sets an excellent example! Not to mention I went to several of their summer training programs in high school.

Every person has a special talent and just because it is not a 'high profile' sport does not mean it should not be treated the same as others. This sport shapes you for life in a heathy fashion unmatched by any other sport.

There are 4000 nordic high school skiers in the state and only 3 schools now that offer collegiate nordic skiing. What are you thinking?

Save Gustavus Nordic! Cutting the Nordic Team is a short-sighted decision by the management. Nordic ski teams bring smart, well-rounded student-athletes to the school and are the perfect to fit to Liberal Arts College in MN. with our states strong participation in Nordic Skiing from the High School level all the way through adulthood. Nordic is one of the most participatory, life-long sport around and SHOULD be a way to connect generations of Gusties together and to the school. Losing NCAA status is akin to losing this link- there is no Club level skiing in Minnesota. I'm sure the budget of the Nordic Team pales in comparison to that of the big team sports. Keep the meager budget of the Nordic Team for the future of the Gustavus.
