I had a great time competing with Gustavus skiers throughout my collegiate career. I think everyone else should be able to experience that too.

Skiing has been incredibly important in my life. I did choose not to attend Gustavus, but had I done so, the primary reason would have been to ski. This decision, if it is indeed not about money or the team's performance, is not acceptable.

If Gustavus wants to keep its brand as a Minnesotan college, particularly one with Scandinavian heritage, they need to keep the ski team. Even if they don't want to emphasize that brand, they should realize this is a distinctive feature that attracts students to GAC. If it's not about money...

Its a shame that the sports that hurt people keep getting more and more money while programs that actually benefit peoples wellness and promote healthy living get cut. What a shame

I wasn't a member of the GAC ski team, but I am a member of the local ski community. My experiences on my college team were some of my favorite memories of my life and I can relate to the loss GAC ski team members and alumn must be feeling. I would hate to see this happen again to another Minnesota college.

I know many many people who chose Gustavus for school specifically because they had a varsity Nordic team. Now that there is no longer one it is less appealing of a school.

I am a student at CSB/SJU, our ski team was cut and with that, many prospective students left for other colleges with NCAA Programs. Do not let this happen to Gustavus, a friend to us at CSB/SJU and one of the few remaining entities that respect the beauty of Nordic Skiing.

Being a part of a NCAA competitive ski team had been one of the most invaluable experiences of my life. I am extremely sad and disappointed to hear about this wrong decision. I hope that we are able to fight successfully to support this sport. It's shaped me into the person I am today and would be lost without it.

It would be a tragedy to see Gustavus lose this unique part of it's heritage. Nordic skiing is something that sets GAC and a few other Minnesota schools apart from the rest. Without it, Gustavus is a little less remarkable, a little more indistinguishable from the thousands of other colleges and universities in the US.

Cutting the Gustavus Ski Team would be detrimental to the sport of cross country skiing, and it would cut Gustie athletes short of their hard work they have spent years putting into the sport.

Nordic skiing isn't a super popular sport with everyone, but to those who compete it's more than a sport, it's a lifelong passion. This is not an easy sport for that matter either, it is a full-body effort that requires many long days of training to acheive the balance, power, and speed needed to succeed in competition. Students who take the heart to step up to this challenge are one of a kind and deserve to be recognized as a full-fledged NCAA sport.

Skiing is so important to so many people, and for the team members affected it has surely been an integral part of their college experience. Give the team a chance to prove their worth to the college community.
