Nordic skiing is a nordic tradition and we are a university with a strong scandinavian heritage. How could we maintain that if we take away an integral part of our past? The nordic team is a vibrant community that the following generations deserve.

As an athlete, who competed at the NCAA championship level, I cannot tell you enough how much that meant to me, what it took to achieve that level of competition, and how it shaped my career as a student-athlete. I would do it 10-times over again if I could as it made such a huge impact into who I am today as a business professional.

Gustavus has a history of excellence and accomplishment in varsity Nordic Skiing. A decision to cut the team is short-sighted and truly makes one wonder about the referenced "interests" and "future plans" of the college. Along with many others, I urge Gustavus to reconsider this poor decision.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! How does a great college like Gustavus not see any value in a ski team?? Hello?? It is Minnesota. Scandinavian heritage. What doesn’t fit? My son is in the process of choosing a college, is an accepted Gustie with a Presidential scholarship, and this decision will definitely rule Gustavus out. He loves skiing, feels it is an important Minnesota tradition, and chose his colleges based on academics and the presence of a Nordic Ski Team. What a short-sighted, naive decision. Endurance athletes are some of the brightest students, good luck recruiting now.

Keeping this sport at GAC is important for maintaining diversity, provides the school with strong, intelligent goodwill amassadors throughout the NCAA community and at a national level, as well as adding positiviely to GAC's reputation of the school as a unique and special institution. It would seem it could only damage GAC as a whole to remove Nordic Skiing as a varsity sport.

People are passionate for this sport. The issue isn't a lack of members and if the decision wasn't about money - then what was the decision based on? Students have a right to know.

Please allow the nordic team to continue. There are countless members of this team that have contributed to the betterment of society, and one in particular that I know who is at the forefront of Cross Country Skiing Research in Sweden right now, earning her PhD. This program makes the community, the state, the nation, and the world a better place. Please continue this program.

too many schools are eliminating this sport, my son was hoping to attend this school...but will not if this team is cut :-(

I have been nordic skiing for 16 years 4 of which were for my high school. I do not ski at college, however many of my friends are on the nordic team as well as a few from back home. I know that for them, their team is their family and I'm sure the same holds true for the Gustavus Nordic Team. I would strongly urge Gustavus to reconsider their decision to cut this sport.

Although I am a St. Olaf alumna, I was shocked and disappointed to hear of Gustavus' decision to eliminate their Varsity Nordic Ski team. I knew several Nordic Skiing alumni from both St. Olaf and Gustavus, and they are some of the hardest-working, nicest, and most community-driven individuals that I have ever met. These are fundamental ideals that I believe both St. Olaf and Gustavus hold to the highest standard and eliminating the Gustavus Nordic Ski program does an absolute disservice to your school, your students, and your student-athletes.
