As a former skiier myself, it is absolutely ridiculous for the nordic ski team to be removed. Nordic skiing is a life long sport that requires more endurance and strength than any other sport.

Small liberal arts schools focus on cultivating fantastic experiences for student-athletes, it is what they pride themselves on. An essential part of that student-athlete experience is the athlete part. Save Gustavus Nordic.

We need to encourage sports among our students to help them develop into well rounded, confident, contributing members of society.

Nordic Skiing is such a fantastic sport that allows athletes to build character and motivation for so many aspects. Every Nordic skier I have met has been a great student and had such a powerful drive for success in their lives... Please consider continuing the legacy of the Nordic community.

College nordic ski programs consistently attract higher achieving students than any other sport or campus activity. In Minnesota, high school nordic skiers receive more academic all-state awards than any other sport and more than most sports combined. Check your student GPA's and find any other group more competitive than your nordic skiers! Why would you not want to actively recruit these students??

This is a program full of great people who work hard and actually produce results. It seems unreasonable to get rid of such a great asset to Gustavus, the CCSA, and the ski community as a whole.

I cannot believe this happened. They should strongly rethink this decision, and start a rule where they cannot remove a varsity sport, without giving a warning at least two years in advance.

As a current senior and club team skier at Saint Ben's/Saint John's, I know exactly how this feels. Here's to clear, transparent decision making that actually consults and involves the students for once!

Nordic Skiing is a growing sport, and should not be cut any more than it already has been. It is a huge source of joy, community, and education. I personally would love to see Gustavus' program grow, not downsize. I hope the money and support can be found to continue such an important, wonderful, legacy.

NCAA sports provide an excellent opportunity for students to push them selves within the athletic realm, create strong bonds with teammates and students and excel both academically and athletically. These experiences carry over into lifelong positive health and wellbeing long after college has ended. Nordic Skiing is a high level sport in Minnesota with many talented student athletes looking to continue into college athletics. Please keep Gustavus Nordic Skiing!

I chose to stay in Minnesota for college because of skiing. This is a huge loss for the ski community.

I'm bitter supporting nordic skiing as an alpine racer. Just joking, skiing is skiing and at Gustavus nordic is very important, keep it alive.
