A team is more than just a group of people you compete with and sports are more than just fun and games. Being a collegiate athlete is life changing and this group deserves their team. Please save the gustavus nordic ski team. Imagine if your passion was taken away from you.

Cutting the Nordic program at Gustavus is a very unfortunate decision. I am an endurance athlete and a benefactor of the collegiate athletics system. I sincerely believe that you are cutting away one of the programs that make Gustavus the great preparatory experience that it is. As a coach of Nordic Skiers I know that your decision will likely dissuade academically and athletically talented individuals from considering Gustavus. I am well aware that Nordic Skiing is a relatively expensive sport with a limited following. However, Attendees of your institution go there for the unique opportunities you present. If you want to get a great affordable education you go to the U of M if you want to Nordic ski you used to go to Gustavus.

I have not skiied for Gustavus although I have friends who did ski for them. Skiing is an extremely valuable sport (and lifestyle) in that it promotes lifelong health and well being. This, in turn, produces productive members of the workforce. It is very shortsighted to cut a sport that promotes these sorts of things.

I grew up in Minnesota Nordic skiing every winter. This beautiful sport is now and will always be a major part of my life, and collegiate teams provide a perfect opportunity to grow as an individual and connect with others who share a love for this incredible sport.

As a parent of a current student, I embrace the Scandinavian tradtions of Gustavus. It is not only your niche, but your historical identity. Thanks

Nordic skiing is a lifetime sport. It is my feeling that this is the type of sport in which young adults should be encouraged to participate.

This breaks my heart. Especially for the athletes that are there now and can not finish skiing on the team that they started on. I wish you all the best with your fight to keep your ski team. We are thinking of you at Saint Michael's College in Vermont and hope you can get your Varsity status back!

This decision is certainly not in the best interest of the college.

Cross Country Skiing is a life sport keeping people healthy while socially engaged. The network of ski team members has positivly impacted their community as they volunteered to teach local people to ski in St. Peter. Skiiers are advocates for Global cooling because they see the effects of climate change 1st hand. Skiing builds character overcoming freezing weather conditions together with teammates who antisipate winter with joy instead of dreading snow shoveling. Gustavus's Swedish heritage includes sking as part of it's culture. It'd be a heart wrenching loss if Gustavus eliminates their XC ski team.

It is absolutely imperative that we save the Gustavus Nordic ski team, skiing at Saint Scholastica shaped me into who I am today. If we keep letting school administrators close down programs like this-- we won't have anything left. Go Gusties!!!!!

College skiing helped me become the person I am today. I feel sad that future students will either not have that chance at Gustavus, or will have to choose not to attend a school that would otherwise be a great fit.

This is attrocious. WIthout even giving a reasonable explanation a sport is being cut that this athletes have dedicated 20 years of their lives to persue.

Keep the Nordic Ski program! They are some of the best male and female representatives of your school!
