Please reconsider this decision. Most of the kids skiing come exclusively to Gustavus for the Nordic ski program. All of these students are paying tuition. Without the Nordic ski program many potential student will not choose Gustavus. Cost savings now will result in less student enrollment in the future. Again, please reconsider!

These college teams are essential to spreading interest and love for skiing.

Makes no sense for them to do this.

I would think that the "future plans" should include attracting high-caliber, all-around dedicated students such as Nordic Skiers.

I am a 1984 Gustavus Grad, recipient of the 2000 Distinguished Alumni Award, and avid Cross Country Skier. I was not able to find a rationale for this cut in a brief search of the GAC website. A well rounded liberal arts school should make every effort to give as much support to its life sports as it does to football, hockey etc.

Profit isn't everything, Gustavus Adolphus. Shame on this decision. Shame on the athletic department. May all of the talented skiers transfer to the College of St. Scholastica.

As an alum, skier, and a Swede at heart (well 75%), I would be very disappointed in GAC for removing the team.

Seriously: there is nothing more frustrating than hearing this news. The "College" forgets that its interests are its STUDENTS and their participation not only in classes and sports, but activities that they grow from and can continue to enjoy throughout their life- and hey, maybe even share with others. Bogus reasons for a bogus decision. Keep the program, if you're really about "interests." Skiing IS Minnesota!

It's sad that support of Nordic Skiing, which is a sport that can be safely enjoyed well into the elderly years, is left struggling for support. Shame on you. The excuse is always "not about money" but it is about money. Too bad. It would be refreshing to find some support for such healthy endeavors.
