I was in the band from 69-71 it was the best time of my life! I learned so much from Ken Hill that I use daily. Most of all we were a family and still keep in touch! Children need more experiences with music than they do with some of the other trivial things in their lives!

Music is a vital part of a child's overall education. There is a connection between music and doing well in math. It is vital to have music at the elementary level to build skills and interest. Band was a wonderful activity for my son when he was in high school. Please keep the elementary band teacher position

Don't know how my oldest son would have gotten through school without music. It was his life then and still is his life now as he is a professional drummer percussionist in New York thanks to the music program at Greensburg Salem Without music and art humans are no better than the animals. It is what sets us apart and in this day and age we need both of them.

Music is so important for kids, I started playing in elementary school and played throughout high school. 20 years later it's still a defining characteristic of who I am. My Nephews are in the Greensburg school district, one currently in the band and the other is planning to join next year. Please do not take this from them.

Music and the arts are a critical component of a balanced curriculum and a balanced child/student. It’s a dire component of STEAM. To keep GSSD a diverse and relevant school district in Westmoreland County, we cannot eliminate filling and supporting the growth of programs and positions valuable to children in our school community.

Keep elementary band. It is important to the growth of young children. Without this program it will also effect the program in the secondary level.

I really hope this plan is reversed. The multiple intelligences, the strong basis of a well-rounded education of students, are being ignored. As an alumni of the district and a teacher by trade, shame on any district for even considering this. It's a shame that the arts are being forced to take a back seat when it is the best way some students can really let their talent and brilliance shine.

Music and programs are so important and completely under appreciated. Skills can be used long after students graduate. It’s sad that the arts are the first to make the cut but sports programs see no cuts despite few skills continue to be used in adulthood. KEEP MUSIC PROGRAMS IN SCHOOLS!

Hello, Please keep a full time band position for the elementary schools & high schools. As a student who participated in both, it is key to offer the same opportunities to future students. Several of my friends have children who have participated in GS musical programs. These programs have a far more lasting impact than sports. Sports are often limited to high school participation. Kids who grow up with music are way more likely to stay involved in it for life & in higher education. Thank you.

Music is more important then most realize. It creates discipline and structure. And let's the children find and use one of their many talents. Taking music away from some people is like taking away the air they breath. Music is also a coping mechanism for many people.

I have 3 grandchildren in Greensburg. Non are in the band but I have seen many elementary performances and know these children have or maybe had excellent music instructors . Music is a very valuable component to a school district.
Please save this invaluable teaching position!
