Music inspires and promotes discipline, confidence, academic achievement with higher thinking skills, develops self-expression, creativity, and communication skills. I could go on and on. Please do not cut this position or program. You will see academics and test scores decrease, along with social and team building skills. Our future will suffer and some of our kids only come to school for our music programs, if we get them there, then that is a positive aspect. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CURRENT AND FUTURE STUDENTS AND THEIR LOVE FOR MUSIC AND THE ARTS

It is reprehensible for a school district to even consider eliminating the elementary band teacher position. Please keep the children in mind and allow them the great privilege of learning an instrument.

Music is such an important part on learning....my child was in band since the 3rd grade. And as she is adult now..music is still an important part of her life.

The updated petition shares more information about why we need this call to action. There are various competing needs for the limited funds that are available for next year's school budget. It is possible that Mr. Tribble may not be replaced with an outside hire. Our band program is already short-staffed, and without a new staff member, the band program's future would be in jeopardy. School Superintendent Dr. Peiffer encouraged us to advocate to the school board our support for the position. Your presence at the school board meeting on May 15th is invaluable, but if you cannot attend, your support will be demonstrated with your petition signature.

Please keep the Greensburg Salem elementary school band! These youngsters have put their little hearts and souls into learning their instruments. It would be a shame if they could not continue their in-school lessons. We cannot let them down! We need to continue to support their passion for music.

Not only is it essential to hire an elementary band teacher, but the district should also hire a middle school instructor. The students in band thrive in all academic and extracurricular activities. They should continue to be supported.

Please look at the well being of ALL children before cutting the elementary music program. The pressures of rigorous standards and data demands are turning off some of our most creative minds at the earliest levels. Music and the arts should be expanded, not taken away! Children developmentally need these classes!!

Music in our schools is one of the most important things. It allows kids to express themselves and be vulnerable. Schools support sports which kids love, why won’t they support music that kids love? But wait no child left behind? Who cares if there isn’t jobs or a test for it? Is that all school has become? What else demands perfection? Sports you have seconds chances, downs, punts. You can’t punt in the middle of a band concert!!!!!!! It’s not just about the music. You’re taking away opportunities, team work, teaching, and something that no matter what field someone is going into, they can use. Music inspires creativity and growth. Every single job requires at least a little creativity.

This is a critically important position! The benefits of music education can not be over stated, and the elementary music teacher creates the necessary foundation for students to learn to be musicians!
