Save Greensburg Salem Music

I believe you're making a mistake. If you make this decision, you must realize the consequences are significant and will most likely destroy the instrumental program forever in the school district. I ask you to reconsider. The value of the arts for our children are so vital to their well being. As a parent of two small children this breaks my heart to think that they will not have the opportunity to be taught instrumental music as part of their curriculum.

As an alumni of Greensburg Salem and a music teacher, I find it embarrassing and unacceptable that cutting Mr. Tribble’s position is even being considered. The arts are an incredibly valuable part of a students’ education and helps them become well rounded human beings. The value of the education at my alma mater will diminish if cut happens.

I will vote to fill the position. Maybe I will bring my flute that I learned to play at Nicely in fourth grade and continued through 9th grade band to the next mtg.

We need to hire another elementary band teacher it’s so good for kids to have a music option

A music program is important for children!

Music promotes good math and interpretative skills! Try and eliminate some of the football expenses to fund the music program!!

Music is important!

I am a band teacher myself, and have been playing trombone nearly eighteen years. My career in instrumental music began at Nicely Elementary School in the Greensburg-Salem district when I picked up the trombone in fourth grade. The music and band programs there had a profound effect on my life and I would not be who I am today without them. Please reconsider cutting this program; so many of our students NEED music. For some it’s the only thing about school they look forward to. Thank you, Greensburg-Salem, for giving the gift of music to me. Please continue giving students this opportunity.

Please keep the elementary music program. Do not become like the WV school district from which I retired where kids get no music education until middle school. Kids need a creative outlet. Sometimes band and /or choir may save a child's life.

Keep music alive

I loved band when I attended school at GS. It was a lot of fun, and a wonderful experience. Please do not let the kids of the upcoming years , have this experience. It is a time to listen, learn about the different cultures of music, the emotions that we go through when we hear it. What we feel, even a deaf person can feel the vibration of the song and get emotional. Maybe you should take that under consideration.

We need to keep the music in our schools!

My grandson enjoys his trumpet, it would be a sad thing to see him lose his joy for music because you wont see fit to hire another teacher for him to continue learning and enhancing his love for it.

Save the music and save educational experience.

Music is an absolutely necessary art for children to learn!!!!!

We need the arts in our schools. Not every student is interested in being an engineer. The students who are in the musical arts become more well rounded people. They also gain lasting friendships that last long after their involvement in a group such as the marching band.

Please save this program for the district’s BEST achievers.

My son Gage Redinger is only a sophomore. He went all the way to All-State Band this year. Without his start with the elementary band program he would not have found his passion for music. Or at the very least would have found it much later and not be where he is today.

Music, art and theater are as important as English, Math and Social Studies.
