I went through the music program at GS and graduated in 2008. I am currently an elementary band director and cannot stress how important it is to have someone specifically focusing on the 4th and 5th grade beginning band students. They would not be able to excel in middle and high school as quickly without the attention in elementary.

I was blessed by the music programs offered by GS throughout my years as a student there from 1987-2002. I still play my clarinet in my church orchestra today. Music education made a huge, positive impact on my life; not only academically but also socially. I even use music education in my own classroom today as an elementary teacher. Please do not eliminate music education from GS.

Music has made me who I am today. Without the help of mrs. west I wouldn’t be the person I am today, I wouldn’t have met the people I have and I wouldn’t have had such incredible opportunities throughout my high school career

My son Shane is graduating from JHS this year, and I can honestly say it is his love of music, and the music program that got him through some difficult times. There have been many studies done showing that music programs benefit students be helping them handle stress and increase memory, among other things. Every school should have a music program!

I personally played clarinet in concert and marching bands growing up. I graduated in 2007 from GSHS and hope to have the same music program available for my kids in the future.

This happened at BASD two years after I retired. The award winning HS Band is no longer and it shows. Thanks to the few students and teachers that help keep some music in the school district. Please wake up and keep music alive in our schools.

The music programs at Greensburg Salem had a profound effect on my life while I did several teaching observations for my instrumental and choral methods classes in college. Please reconsider cutting this program. Music is so important!
