So sad to read the comments of parents and especially the students. Obviously Coach Henderson was beloved and instilled values and the love of God in these young men. So much going on at Grace right now, as a graduating family we were always so very proud to have a Lancer for life. Right now, just blessed for the time we had and the relationships developed, but happy to be moving on to college and the next journey. God bless all those remaining.

We are the proud grandparents of a senior football player for the Lancers. Our grandson worked diligently all summer long to prove to Coach Henderson that he was prepared academically, physically and most important spiritually. His grades came up, he was at the gym daily and reading his bible every day. At our age (pushing 80) we had to plan our trips from Florida and we always did so around football season. We so loved being around the positive group of young enthusiastic athletes. I can’t imagine why anyone would take this fellowship away from these amazing young men. Unbelievable!

As an elders wife i can only assume you have heard one side of the story. Have you ever attended pre game devotions with Josh? Camp night devotions? Youth camps? Volunteered for our youth board? Had a child who dreamt for years in the youth program to play Varsity football for Josh? Again i assume not. So it would be hard for you to put yourself in these parents shoes.
For you to sit in judgement of another persons feelings goes to the very problem of the church elders and their decision making.

I’d like to say that the school has let my sons and I down...NOT the football program. The football program has taught us more than the school did. The “elders” did my family dirty but I kept that out of this. This is about ripping a football program out of a small community that takes such pride in it. These young men (and coaches) have worked their BUTTS off to get Grace football to where it is today. Don’t change the subject at hand.

Although my sons only played football for 1 year with Grace, Coach Hendo was the BIGGEST blessing. He taught my sons so much about becoming a man. Coming from a single mom, this is priceless. He paid attention to them, he helped them grow, he taught them hard work and dedication but also taught them to love our lord. When my son was in the hospital and VERY ill, Coach Hendo was getting some of the team together to come pray over my son. Never in our lives has any coach ever loved on my sons like a Hendo did. He came to our house to check on my boys. He has made such a HUGE impact on my sons. It makes me sick to my stomach that this is coming to an end (at least this way).
I understand that Coaches eventually move on but pulling the entire program?!!!! This is not ok. My sons have made life long friends in this program (one even got a F.L.S tattoo). Playing football and keeping their faith is rare. It’s terrible to see this go. Shame on whoever pulled this.

Why dismantle a whole team when you can resort to replacing the problem at its source. Blame those directly who are wrong doing.

Seems so easy to make a comment like this anonymously. Maybe you can explain your verbiage "temper tantrum" to the football team, especially the seniors. If you have other facts that should be known, please share. Until then, please don't make such an ignorant & insensitive comment.

The fact there is so much miscommunication about what is happening with the football program at Grace is the real issue. It’s embarrassing. Why is there no school board? Why are the “Elders” in charge of school decisions without the involvement of parents? Our schools have many highly educated parents who would be happy to be involved with making decisions for the schools. Even when we had a school board, what was discussed and decided at board meetings was ever communicated to the parents. The lack of transparency and the self serving attitudes of the “Elders” is what really disgusts me. This whole mess has been handled so poorly. One of these men need to address all of this right away and clear up all these questions.
