I get it, it's an inconvenience to not be able to park in front of your house on the street if you have limited parking options. Though I'm guessing it's not so much an inconvenience when compared to a cyclist getting hit because of unsafe streets.
Bike lanes make streets safer for cyclists. If that doesn't matter to you, you should probably move somewhere far away from cyclists that allows you more parking options.

The Baton Rouge Metro Council made a commitment to making roads safe for all road users with the adoption of the complete streets policy last November. Please don't take a step in the wrong direction. Granting this request would set a dangerous precedent. It could seriously damage what we have decided to be the proper direction to take with our infrastructure.

Dedicated bike paths are not personal property to be used for parking lots. That's what driveways, carports, garages and parking pads are for.

Connectivity among neighbors and neighborhoods is one of the hallmarks for building a better, more cohesive community. Bike and pedestrian lanes are the most direct conduits in which to instigate direct, positive interaction with our neighbors and help create this connectivity. Dedicated bike and pedestrian lanes promote a more vibrant community and a more active population which generally creates interest in the neighborhood, which in turn increases home sales, renovations of these homes and subsequently increased property values. Next comes the commercial and retail components needed to service these unique communities. These businesses create jobs and tax revenue. All of the above tends to happen in neighborhoods that had fallen on hard times for a number of possible reasons, but have become reinvigorated and reinvented by engaged and active residents, such as everyone who signed this petition.
Or 50 or so neighbors can have more parking in public space...at their sole discretion.

Save the bike lanes, add more bike lanes! Bike lanes are an important part of infrastructure, cars aren't the only means of transportation and people are just starting to realize that, don't take away lanes now! The streets are public. For transit. Not private parking lots for homeowners.

We already have a scarcity of bike lanes in this city and cyclists are fairly regularly getting hit by cars. Why would we remove a bike lane?

I am not signing this petition...
we are a family consisting of Jason, sarah, warren and Win Dupree. We live on Glenmore. Contradictory to the previous comments above, we do not have a large driveway. We have a long skinny driveway that we cannot fix, because we would like to save the beautiful oak trees that have been alive in our yard way before we were born and hopefully will remain alive after all our descendants are dead. That being said, your bikes will rust, our cars will get old, and our kids grow up and we will buy them drive newer cars to drive to and from school. That is a fact. We moved to our house 9 years ago. It had been a vacant for 2 years prior to purchase. It was a broken and dismal house. We have made that old house into our home. Without the families who constantly try to improve these old houses, trees and our property value, we will all be at a severe loss. If it was not for the people who truly love glenmore, you all would all be just riding your bikes in a circle in the webb park parking lot. It is appalling to read that others cannot and will not see that we deserve the right to park our cars in front of our houses that we pay a hefty mortgage on every month instead of giving up for an easier "bike route". We deserve the right to go to work, pick up carpool, have people over to celebrate life and death without getting a ticket on our cars. I will personally fundraise to buy you all a bike rack, on a corner that you all deem worthy, so you can all complain about where you can go bike riding.
Until then, get a grip and ride elsewhere. Because, you are not welcome in front of our house, my friends/family and any others who just might have car trouble in front of my house. . We are all trying to do the right thing, but this is taking up way to much time just so a certain few swerve around my car in front of my house. how about go run the LSU lakes? I hear they have a bike path and a nice park and bike racks.

Looking at a bicycling and walking map of Baton Rouge, to safely get from one point to another, we need more-not-fewer dedicated travel lanes and travel paths for non-motorized transportation. For many, non-motorized transportation isn't recreation: it's the only way you can get around. Our taxes and public infrastructure should provide a safe system for all to use. Glenmore is a key connector in our city's limited offering, and an example for an increased sense of community, public safety, and yes, increased property values. That a few homeowners with little interest in walking or cycling are offended that their yard man or house maid must now park in their driveway is hardly legitimate justification for eliminating this important public good. Rather than be eliminated, the non-motorized travel lanes should be further demarcated (e.g., painted in a different color and/or possibly raised to have grade separation from the motorized lane). They should never be blocked by parked motor vehicles. I don't lock up my bicycle in the middle of a motor lane when I visit someone's house, nor do I park it in the middle of a bicycle lane. When I visit someone I bring my bicycle up their driveway and lock it up somewhere on their property. The same goes for motor vehicles.

I support adding bike lanes throughout the city. The bike lanes are what make this neighborhood one of my favorite in town. I live in the neighborhood and love riding through on the protected lanes. It is great exercise and beautiful scenery.
I use this bike lane on a regular basis.
