Bicycle lanes give cyclists a safe place to ride. I believe motorists and cyclists alike are happier and safer with separate lanes.

The streets are owned by the public,, not by the homeowners. The bicycle lanes are part of the street. and owned by the public, not by the homeowners.

Don't think of these as "bike" lanes. Think of them as a way for pedestrians to have safe access to health and fitness. Think of them as a way for a family to have safe access for taking their newborns and small children on a stroll through the neighborhood. Think of them as a way for neighbors to meet each other and develop a sense of community. I live in Capital Heights and if not for the "bike lane" on capital heights and those in the surrounding neighborhoods I would likely be out of shape. And not only has my health improved, but property value has improved, my sense of community has improved, and my love for living in Baton Rouge has improved. These "bike lanes" are good for our community, meaning both the neighborhood I live in as well as the entire city. We need more "bike lanes," not fewer. Allowing a few short-sided individuals to stand in the way of progress and sacrifice the good of the whole community is not the correct solution. If these homeowners want extra parking they can install parking pads for their guests. They do not own the street in front of their house and they do not have any special right to park there. The streets are paid for by the community as a whole and these few homeowners have no special right to them. Not only am I asking the council to deny the homeowners petition to remove the bike lane on Glenmore Ave., I am asking you to consider the good of the entire community and expand safe access for pedestrians and bikers across all of Baton Rouge.

We regularly use the Glenmore bike lanes. It is my understanding that the Glenmore residents are taking issue with the fact that on-street parking is restricted because of the bike lanes. I live on Capital Heights. There is a bike lane in front of my home. I added an additional area for off-street parking. Not a big deal. The payoff is well worth the minor inconvenience.

the bike lanes are like an old heart getting a new artery. if you want to keep our city pumping forward then we must keep adding the upgrades to make this possible . i'm sorry that the folks on Glenmore are feeling the pains of change, but just like the folks that had to go through the changing of Capital Heights to a one way, soon they will come to realize it really is a good move for the masses.

I only have a bicycle for transportation. Biking in this city is particularly frightening for me, as I know a number of cyclists who have been hit by cars and nearly died. This city needs *more* bike lanes, not fewer.

Just returned from a trip to NYC before the LSU-Syracuse game. They have dedicated bike lanes on a very large % of the city. Very progressive and I did not see a single car parked in a bike lane. If they can do it with the traffic and congestion they have it can't be such a terrible inconvenience for us here in BR.
