I live on Hundred Oaks and one factor in purchasing our house was that the neighborhood had bike lanes. So we built a parking pad. Do not remove them! Do not go backwards BR!

Please keep the bike lanes on Glenmore. It's one of the few streets we can walk on safely.

It is ridiculous that this situation has come to this point. It is a matter of a few homeowners that must solve their own parking problems, as many of their neighbors have already done. There is no need to affect the entire city. The bike lanes are for everyone, all the time, they are public.

we don't have enough bike, walking, running lanes in Baton Rouge as it is. We need a safe way to travel our neighborhood streets.

This already happened on Park Boulevard and it was an awful decision. I ride my bike down Park for a few blocks to get to work and it's the place I get harassed the most, despite it being a beautiful boulevard in what should be the most bike-friendly part of the city. Show off the beauty of Baton Rouge, let people ride their bikes and enjoy the scenery.

Sarah,
You might find it helpful to refer to section D of the following Louisiana Statute. In the event that a motorist does happen to have car trouble in front of your house, there is a provision for that (see below). The law does accommodate for cases of emergency that seem to be of concern to you.
For what its worth, taxpayers who both drive cars on public streets and also opt to use bicycles as alternate modes of transit on designated public bicycle facilities such as the Glenmore Avenue bicycle lanes are not the ones "complaining", nor is the reasoning any of us put forth has to do with mere recreational "bike riding." Did you know that a bicycle is a viable mode of getting around to one's job, to obtain an education, as well as to run errands and even gather groceries? In case you didn't know, bicycling as an alternate mode of transportation has increased in popularity and demand to the extent that The Baton Rouge Metro Council made a commitment to making roads safe for all road users with the adoption of the complete streets policy last November. (More information here: http://www.smartgrowthamerica.org/documents/cs/policy/cs-la-batonrouge-policy.pdf). Bicycling really is a thing here and its not going away. Take a look: http://brgov.com/BikeBR/
Back to those bicycle laws I was talking about...
RS 32:203 Motor Vehicles Operating in Bicycle Lanes
A. No person shall operate a motor vehicle in a bicycle lane except as follows:
(1) To prepare for a turn within a distance of two hundred feet from the intersection.
(2) To enter or leave the roadway onto an alley, private road, or driveway.
(3) To enter or leave a parking space when parking is permitted adjacent to the bicycle lane.
B. Any person operating a motor vehicle upon a bicycle lane in accordance with Subsection A of this Section shall yield the right-of-way to all bicycles and electric mobility aids within the bicycle lane.
C. This Section shall not prohibit the use of a mot

Grew up in the neighborhood, the dedicated bike path on the south side of Webb was one of the greatest attractions of that area. More bike paths, particularly that actually use established streets, only make sense.

it's a perfectly reasonable request. what is public is not up for private arrogation. it's as tho someone decided to build his residence in a BREC park. keep the bike lanes. and build new ones.

Save the lanes. Then they may multiply and you "entitled" whiners won't feel so all alone!
