I moved to Baton Rouge eight years ago and immediately wanted to leave. Since then there has been a changing tide - a slow acceptance of bicycles, of public transportation, of culture, of humanity, of tolerance.
Based on that change, we bought a house earlier this year.
Baton Rouge is becoming a better place for PEOPLE. That's why I'm staying. You can try to prove me wrong - by trying to take away bike lanes, or voting to shut down libraries and bus systems - but you won't succeed.

as a resident in this neighborhood, I think the removal of the bike lanes sounds ridiculous. They are heavily used by pedestrians and cyclists, and the Glenmore lane is one of the best bike lane roads in the city. Slow speed limit making it safer for cyclists to start with. Keep the bike lanes!!!

At a time when Baton Rouge is labeled the most obese city in America we should be adding bike lanes not taking then away.

As someone who's lived around mid city, stronger bike presence and support is pretty important.

Those lanes give me a rare moment of riding around BR without having to worry about being run over at any given time. To get rid of them would be a travesty for the general public.

Bike Lanes are for everyone, not just the people who live in the neighborhood. This area is a thoroughfare for people biking from LSU to the Mid-City art scene. Let them park in their driveways!

I live in this neighborhood and bike to work every day. I wish every street on my route had a bike lane. We need to accommodate more transportation options, not reduce them.
