I am so sad as a long time cyclist in BR that this issue has gtten so escalated. I apologise for all the distress and hurt, fear and anger that has been going on on Glenmore, and I will do everything in my poower to calm this situation. We cannot go backward on this.

I don't think anyone signing this petition asked you if we were welcome on the public street in front of your house.

I bike to work nearly every day and pay the same taxes as all the drivers, yet there are almost no safe places to bike in BR. Bike lanes need to be expanded, not reduced. Drivers should be thanking cyclists for not contributing to congestion.

For some people biking is the only form of transportation available. It should be easier to bike in this city, not more difficult.

We need more bike lanes/areas in this city, more education about bicycling for both cyclists and car driver and more direct action to get people to have proper gear. (Three cyclists the other night on my way home. None had lights, reflective gear or even light-colored clothes. Couldn't see them until I was close.)

The bike lanes help protect cyclists and walkers from injury. Property owners on Glenmore have larger than average lots and long driveways to accommodate their parking issues. Public roads are just that - public and paid for by all taxpayers, each of whom have a reasonable expectation to travel the roads safely in whatever mode of transportation they choose. Please maintain the bike lanes. I would love to see more of them in Baton Rouge.

This is insane. Do not remove the bike lanes. With the growing number of people on bikes, this is absolutely necessary for the safety of the people on bikes. Please also enforce the law prohibiting vehicles from parking in bike lanes. Again, safer for people on bikes so they don't have to dodge and swerve into the road to avoid cars parked there. Then there's the horror I would feel if I was in a vehicle and hit someone on a bike who who had to into the vehicle lane to avoid a vehicle parked in the bike lane.
We cannot take a step backwards by removing a bike lane when the entire country is moving forward and adding bike lanes.

Louisiana is 3rd highest in cyclists killed, 6th in pedestrian deaths, 8th in all motor vehicle deaths, 12th in number of vehicle collisions. Plus we have the second highest insurance rates in the nation. These are shameful statistics.
Individuals want to enjoy the freedom of the open road without exercising responsibility or assumption of risk, and so we need to add features to roads to keep different types of users separate and safer.
In this case, we have to fight to keep one of the few dedicated bike lanes in the entire 470 square miles of the parish. Also a shameful situation here in the 21st century.
This is not some recreational "path." It is a traffic lane subject to traffic laws and a conveyance for commuters, just like the car lanes.

Keep the bike lanes. Our streets need to be safe for bicyclists and unfortunately everyone doesn't realize that they also have the right of way. Bike lanes help provide a safe path for children and adults so why would we want to take that away?

They do have large driveways on Glenmore and they can apply for a permit as needed. No reason to remove the bike lanes. They don't have this problem on Kenilworth.

It's utterly ridiculous to replace useful, green public space with empty, private spaces of reservation.
