**VERY ACCURATE INFORMATION**
There is very much a lawsuit. And its not for unpaid property taxes. See, HHB-CV18-6045846-S AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR NEURO-INTEGRATIVE DEVELOPMENT v. TOWN OF FAIRFIELD. It's sitting idle in New Britain Superior Court where all tax appeals are held in the State of Connecticut.
It's for the arbitrary actions of a tax assessor who with no notice to anyone decided to subdivide the property and tax the newly created parcel. In fact, in April 2019, the State Appellate Court found the entirety of the school's property to be within the scope of a 501(3)(c). See AC 40102.
While I agree with you that property taxes are current - you are incorrect as to everything else. And nobody is working against the Board by pointing out the Town of Fairfield's utter disregard for the law as it relates to its treatment of the school.

How could a school not try everything in their power to make following the guidleines to assist the kids who need it to the most. This is so terrible to hear as I am a preschool special ed teacher. Parents and studenrs depend on the school to give the child the best education they deserve. I think there needs to be more thought put into this.

Giant Steps has provided invaluable support as well as education for students in need for a long time. I am a teacher and personally know a student from the school named Robert Bolton. The wonderful, meaningful and valuable educational, as well as personal experiences received at Giant Steps are immeasurable. Every effort should be made to keep the school open.

My nephew attends this school and has benefited immensely from receiving the education and support from the educators and staff. Please reconsider this decision and stay open, not only for him but all the other students and families that will be adversely effected by closing your doors.

AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR NEURO-INTEGRATIVE DEVELOPMENT, INC. aka GIANT STEPS SCHOOL won a P&Z challenge in April 2019 at the State Appellate Court based upon an arbitrary and baseless decision issued by Fairfield's Planning and Zoning Commission. The 501(3)(c) status of the AIND, Inc. was a factor in sustaining that victory.
The complaint in the tax appeal reads even worse! With zero notice to anyone - the town decided to subdivide the property into 2 parcels and tax the portion of the property that the Appellate Court already determined to be the property of a 501(3)(C) - which means it's not a taxable parcel. But why let facts get in the way? The Town of Fairfield's Tax Assessor's unilateral action in 2017/2018 was an outrageous and fundamental violation of the school's due process rights, among other things.
And you're right - the case was scheduled for a pre-trial in August 2019 but was postponed never to be rescheduled and the case goes cold from there. No activity whatsoever since 8/9/19.
And now the purported reason for closing the school is based upon the hardships of maintaining compliance with Covid-19 regulations?
This cannot stand and must be attacked through the legal process - AGAIN!

So sad to hear the news! My son came to GS at 10 years old and stayed for the next 10 years. I don’t know where we would be if we hadn’t found GS because frankly there was no where else I thought he would be safe and could learn as much as he did. I think it is a travesty if other children are denied this opportunity!

As an employee of Giant Steps for the past 5 years, it is hard to articulate the profound impact this school has made on my life as well as many others. Closing GS would take away educational and therapeutic opportunities that greatly benefit our students. Please reconsider your decision to close, our students need us!!
