We need more care homes for the elderly not less. My mother in law was in this home and was treated with respect and lots of care. It would be a great loss to the residents and the community for it to close!!!

Worked there for 13yrs . I now live in caerphilly and work in a care home there . You will never get a better care home any where i promise you . So please keep Garth olwg open .

I strongly oppose the proposed closure of Garth Olwg Care home. My grandfather stayed at the home many times over the years. The quality of care provided was excellent and the standards were very high. He really enjoyed his time there and the staff were fantastic to both him and the other residents. With the home being located within the local area that he lived; family (including his grandchildren who could call in after school) were able to visit him. There was one occasion when my grandfather had to stay at an alternative home, for a short period of time as Garth Olwg was full. The other care home is in RCT and it was appalling. There was no quality of care there and the standards were abysmal! It was so bad that we reported our concerns to Social services. That home is on the list to be retained! I think it's vital to the local community to retain this wonderful facility. Garth Olwg staff - keep up the wonderful work you do. It really does make such a difference to not only those that stay with you at Garth Olwg but also their families, to know that their loved ones are able to receive the highest quality of care that they rightly deserve.

Please keep this well loved care home open! Our elderly residents are mothers, fathers, grandparents to many in the local community. They all paid taxes all their working lives and it is their absolute right to have excellent care, after all, they paid for it. Treat our elderly with the respect they deserve. Shame on the council if this closure happens.
