Having had familiy members cared for at this lovely home, whos staff are amazing and treat the residents as their own family, i would like to protest at the closing of this home. Elderly residents being made to change to "independent living" is not the answer for some vulnerable people who need places like Garth View to survive. Shame on RCTCBC

Garth olwg is a wonderful home and should not be closed. I speak from both a personal and professional point of view on the care given by the amazing staff to the vulnerable clients that are looked after to well there. My nan was a resident thete for many years, following the death of my grandfather she could no longer live at home alone even with a package of care, she just couldnt. After many tears shed at the thought of having to put her into residential care, as a family we chose Garth Olwg, as it was close to her family and the first impressions were wonderful. She spent a day there and Jennifer and Jackie were amazing. As a family we never looked back as she became herself again, gained confidence, thrived , gained weight which she had lost when she was at her lowest point. I can honestly say, hand on heat, that if it wasnt for the exceptional care she recieved there , she would not have survived the good few years she had there, and we would not have jad our nan for as long. From a professional point of view, i visit this home on a daily basis as a district nurse and have always praised their care and compassion, they treat residents as family, not many places can say the same. It would be so sad if this home were to close for these super homes. These residents would not cope with such a place. They want a family, caring environment that are professional, not these new homes trying to instill independent living into residents who have been nurtured and cared for for the remaining years they have left. Elderly dont like change, and these changes to care could have a massive detrimental effect on our loved ones

Moving home at any age is incredibly stressful, but when you're in your twilight years even more so. Garth Olwg is a wonderful facility and very much wanted in this area.

The wider impact of closing this home will put further demands on the NHS and resources that are already limited if not gone already .

As a district nurse I have been a regular professional visitor to this fantastic care home where the residents are valued & supported in their local community. I do not understand why it is closing when it is an integral part of the church village community for both residents staff & visitors.

I cannot put into words how caring , professional and attentive the staff working at GO are . The care my Grandma received was fantastic . Closing will upset so many people , especially the residents who call it home . Please reconsider !!

This care home has been in our community for many years, it will be a shame to close as it is the best around and care exceptional. Staff go above and beyond to look after the residents, a very happy and pleasant place.

Such a shame to try and close this place, the staff are lovely and looked after my dad when he was ill and had to be placed here for a few months
