Completely opposed to this idea as well if reading you correctly Melanie. 30 minutes in Girling Street does not promote footfall and is unsupportive to our retailers. It will also encourage more traffic flow around our one-way system where pollution will rise along Girling Street. Maintaining 3 hours free under subsidised funding must be maintained.

Hi, I wanted to tell you about this petition that I just signed: "Save Free Parking in Sudbury, Suffolk" https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/save-free-parking-in-sudbury-suffolk I really care about this cause, and I'd love it if you joined me in supporting it. It's free and takes just a few seconds of your time. Thanks!

Completely the wrong time to even consider bringing charging in. An inadequate survey has been run. Whilst cars are parked with engines turned off they are not polluting. To suggest cutting free parking down to an hour as an environmental argument gives little time for shopping for free and will add to more time spent on sudburys one way system. Charging is also a tax on hospitality where longer stay is needed. We need to protect our Independent retail. All this will encourage is shopping online or shopping in the nationals because of their free convenience parking already on offer. Sudbury has 3 of these larger retailers all within 600 metres of its town centre and one on its perimeter. Charging is just a kick in the teeth to traders already on their knees presently.

Paying to park will drive shoppers away from Sudbury, meaning the end to many already struggling businesses.

As a Sudbury resident and all the other residents who needs to use the car park, where are we expected to park. We can buy a permit costing hundreds of pounds each year but are not guaranteed a space??????

wrong decision in these times and based on information pre-pandemic. The high street will look very different and this will not help at all the recovery.

I regularly use Sudbury and the free 3 hour parking is necessary to keep the shops and town centre alive. Without free parking the town centre will suffer a devastating downturn.

This will also impact local residential streets as some people will inevitably look for somewhere free to park while they pop into town. Will we ever get any parking back in the market square especially for blue badge holders or North Street or has that now gone for good?
