This dog run is a lifeline for so many dog owners in this community, a critical space where dogs can play and humans can socialize safely. I usually bring my dog here daily, and its closure has made day-to-day life for dog owners in this neighborhood much more difficult. The community is ready and willing to put in the work to transform this space into an official dog run - please give us the chance to do so!

This was such a great day spot and was well taken care of by all of us who used it! It also takes some of the beating off of the grounds in Fort Greene Park.

I have a year old Boxer named Silas and like all boxers has a lot of energy. We loved going to Clermont during the day so he can run around with dogs and get fresh air, off leash. I would love to sign your petition to save this spot for him and his furry friends.

Please let us keep the dog run in this small space that likely wouldn't have a better use! The fact that it is fenced in adds a level of security that the off-leash hours in Fort Greene park don't allow for, as many dogs do not understand the concept of a busy street and cars. It's been a haven for so many dog parents in the area over the past year and it would be a shame to remove it when so many rely on it and would be willing to help keep it maintained.

The Fort Greene Dog Run has been such a valuable neighborhood resource over the past few months since we adopted our puppy. It provides a safe environment for socializing and training dogs and trading tips between owners. We have met some wonderful new friends through the dog run and feel more connected with our neighborhood than ever. We’ve already seen the generous spirit between owners with the addition of a shovel to help fill in holes and a water bowl for communal use. I can say with confidence that users of the dog park will continue to improve and maintain the run with whatever resources are required.

We need this dog run! Our dog is too fast and energetic for off leash hours at Fort Green Park, but needs exercise to be happy and healthy. This has been a great community resource during the pandemic when we don't have the option to be travelling far and wide to other dog runs. It is a safe area, separate from the playground, and I've only ever seen respectful owners and friendly dogs using it. Maintenance would be extremely low and we'd be more than willing to help out.
