IMO, the green space that currently exists is restful on the eyes and has always been an attractive feature in this area, in addition to serving as a spot for residents to play catch, etc., with their children and animals. The townhouses facing the square are well maintained, as are the single family dwellings. After so many decades, why now is there a need to clutter up the neighborhood with high density, blot out the sun/sky type housing? I believe this type of development will be a detriment to the Water Gardens community overall. I’m surprised and disappointed the mayor and the common council thought this development might be a good idea and tried to slip it in while no one was watching. The land is publicly owned, please keep it that way for future generations.

I live right in front of the Forsythe Sq green space and my toddler loves to enjoy the area. It would be sad to see it go. Plus the parking is already tight enough so it will be a big disturbance to our neighborhood. am

As a Hammond resident and Franklin elementary teacher I strongly oppose this project. The water gardens is a very unique and desirable neighborhood. New housing is going up 1/2 a mile away at the former football field.

The City of Hammond showcases the recreational opportunities that Robertsdale's Wolf Lake offers as a key aspect of what makes the city a good place to live. From the Pavilion, to extensive walking paths, from fishing and boating to hiking and biking, Robertsdale connects an urban, industrial city to nature. Increasing density in the community and eliminating much-needed green space counters this vision of community that the Mayor and city administration have promoted. Please reconsider development of every open space for housing! Rather than attracting new residents, this approach is counterproductive in presenting Hammond as a desirable community in which to live and work.

This green space has welcomed folks into the Water Gardens for decades! Please don't ruin it by adding more housing, more need for parking.
Children play in that area, people use it for playing with their dogs, practicing golf swings, flying kites, impromptu football games. I see no need for housing here other than revenue for the city, it certainly isn't going to raise our property values.
