Council is clearly being short sighted and needs to reverse this pathetic decision. Good luck.

Absolutely disgusted with the way these volunteers are being treated. They make the park a better place.
The council needs to leave them alone, and stop money grabbing!

Another typical bad decision from them! Do everything bad for the community and nothing good, when will they ever learn?

WMBC encourage groups to volunteer and make areas safer, more aesthetically pleasing and spend time bringing a community together. Obviously, that is passé now and doesn't matter.
People in the borough need this open space, a friendly place to meet. Soon there will be no open places or green areas left.
This is so sad. What life are the children of the future going to have? What message is being sent? Do as I say, not as I do.

Absolutely disgusting that this could happen. You do a fantastic job there and this little meeting place is far more than just a cafe. Selfish greedy Wigan as usual

An absolute disgrace if this goes ahead. A local council kicking some of it's hardest working citizens (who provide a valued community service) in the teeth. Tantamount to a bullying takeover by thugs after someone else has done the hard work.

Please help save Pennington Tea Rooms for our local community. It has given the people of Leigh so much pleasure and all the volunteers have done a tremendous job. WMBC should not be allowed to get away with this.

This was a lovely place to visit on an afternoon trip. The te rooms served great cakes and drinks throughout the year. It reaches out to all aspects of the community , they serve Christmas lunch for those who would be alone other wise over the festive period. They also promote a healthy life style by having an outdoor gym and bowling competitions. To keep the youngsters of our community involved they have sports camps on in the summer, meeting Father Christmas and pumpkin carving. Penning hall park would not be the same without the tea rooms.

It's a lovely and friendly place to go to enjoy the service the volunteers at the cafe offer. It would be a great shame to lose such an important fixture which is most definitely a huge part of the park. I would say that plenty would agree with me that the park would not be the same without this cafe and it's lovely bunch of volunteering staff

Give pleasure to the community, they take it away
Not in my name they don't

I have never been, but have intended to.
How can Wigan Council do this to a local project ran by volunteers and enjoyed by the community.
It's always about money.
