Hang your heads in shame w m b c.this group has brought your run down park up to a local meeting place for young and old to enjoy . Pretty sure that if it had been out of Leigh you would have backed it.

I am disgusted at the councils heartless approach to this whole affair.

I often visit this park with my daughter, my sister and my nieces. We have noticed a dramatic change since the volunteer group started up and running. It is a vibrant hub of the community and a credit to the people running it and an asset to the local area. It would be a terrible shame to see all that hard work go to waste.

This is a wonderful cafe run by a fantastic voluntary team. Wigan MBC should support this cause, not condem it.

Please support this community venture that brings people together rather than trying to turn it into a profit making venture. We need more projects like this to encourage people to be more community spirited and make things happen.

The tea room is an excellent example of what should there be mire of. A real community meeting place as well as a great spot for a quick snack/coffee. Its a credit to Leigh and ought to be supported!

The cafe was reopened having been closed for many years and in the time since it has become an important community resource. It feels very unjust that the person who has put her heart and soul into making work is not being given the opportunity to continue her work. Please reconsider Wigan Council- this cafe needs to stay in the hands of the current people running it (many of whom are volunteers).

This seems at odds with WMBC's approach to get local people to volunteer within their communities. It is as if the Council have let the volunteers build up a wonderful community asset and now want to make money from it. Shame on them!

Absolutely devasted by this decision. What a travesty , when this community hub WORKS! Works for the local community , it brings together people of all ages and backgrounds. This is a big big mistake. If the agenda is about 'money' again wrong and unethical when this group have worked so hard to bring the park back to life. Something Wigan Council had neglected for many many years. How does this decision fit with the 'new deal' ?
